Big Orange Hotline from Dead End BBQ with Bob Kesling, Pat Ryan, & Jeff Francis –
Some notes:
Bob had an interview with Hooker. He noted that Hendon had been a pretty accurate passer throughout his career as a college QB and asked him how he developed that accuracy. Hendon said he comes from a QB family. His dad was a QB and his little brother is a QB. Hendon said his first receiver as a kid growing up was his little sister. He said he had to be pinpoint accurate and he had to throw with touch on his passes because every time she dropped a pass she blamed him.
They had a preview of the Gators with the new radio voice of the Gators. The previous guy retired after 33 years. The guy said they’re working on their passing game and he thinks Richardson will come along, this being only his 4th start. He said on defense they’ve been having some alignment issues up front against the run which they adjusted for in the second half of the Utah game but then has some of the same issues last week. Bob always seems to get in a punch with these opposing announcers at the end of the interview and tonight reminded the guy that Richardson has 0 TD passes and 4 interceptions on the year.
The guys talked about our defense and how we’ve been able to a lot of times get pressure on the QB without bringing blitz packages. They raved about Baron and Young. Mitchell started last week and they all thought he played good. Jeff thought he started over Beasley only because he hasn’t played since early last year and the staff wanted him to get some snaps before heading into SEC play. They all thought our LBs were playing good..
Jeff said he thought we had the better team for this weekend. He noted that Florida has a lot of talent but said this being their first year with a new staff he thought we had a significant maturity advantage.
Pat said on defense he thought the key was gap integrity because “on offense we’re going to put our damn foot on their throat.”
