Nice.

By and large you ever notice its the homes that have 'you'll meet your maker', 'choot first ask questions later,' or some such gun related nonsense - are the homes no one would ever break into?
Yeah but I have a mote and drawbridge. They can't even get to my place to begin with.

Have you seen The Alpinist? It’s more insane than Free Solo
I started watching that one late one night and got tired/bored and turned it off. Up to the point that I turned it off, I hadn't seen anything that really impressed me. I'll try to track it down again and watch it. I don't remember offhand where I streamed that one.

I gotta go with Tyson..........
Ali is MUCH smarter than people think.

Others were playing chess. Tyson wouldve exhausted himself. Probably wouldve knocked Ali down several times.

Until the very end of the fight all those body blows and counterpunches come home to roost when a hook comes home on Tyson's chin

Absolutely, Positively No Ketchup on Hot Dogs. Never. Fuhgeddaboudit.

Chicago also believes pizza should be a cheese topped marinara soup. Can't trust those folks.

I'm not so sure. Tyson was devastating in his prime, but his actual prime was a relatively short time frame. I saw him fight about 10 times before he claimed the title. In my opinion, his skills inside the ring showed a steady and increasingly steep decline each fight after he got rid of Kevin Rooney as his trainer.

Ali in his prime would have likely frustrated the hell out of Tyson, much like he did a young George Foreman.

I miss boxing. I wish it hadn't completely died as a sport. I can't even remember the last time I had any interest in watching a boxing match.

Its crazy. The Alpinist is even more surreal. Similar type documentary
I've so far seen and thoroughly enjoyed:

Free Solo
The Alpinist
The Dawn Wall
Meru
The Summit

If anyone knows of any others, please add. Can't get enough of those.

These 2 short YT videos are also absolutely insane and captivating. The first one will blow your mind. The second one isn't quite as thrilling, but will make you pee your pants and is possibly even far more dangerous and absurd. The comments will give you a good context of how historically insane each is.

Ali would have had a plan. People forget that in his prime and even later he was not only a smart boxer but he was tough as well. It would have been something to see for sure.

It's not technically a documentary, but I'm assuming you've seen the movie Everest. Right? I know I watched a couple of others. I'll try to look them up. You should definitely add 14 Peaks (on Netflix) to your list.

the NBA ones especially are such an eye opener that the books and pros have access to so much more information than the common fan/bettor, and have insane models that give them an edge
Yup. The only secret is going after the least well known players or small time college props if available. Gotta find the bets no one else is paying attention to. The fish go bet the super bowl and all the biggest games.

Used to know a guy that made a killing simply betting small time college sports (believe it was Big South Conference basketball iirc). He specialized in knowing everything about those teams and the margins were so wide...Vegas and the public were hardly attention to them and their exposure was so small they didn't care to.

The Pacman days were absolutely great. Mayweather...greatest technician I've ever seen, but he was also boring and took up easier fights in general. The days before that with Ward v Gatti and Corrales were obviously fantastic.

I'll admit I've tailed off since Pacquiao bounced.

Heavyweight has just been too dominated to be interesting. The fast rise of Lomanchenko was definitely captivating. Outside of that...yeah not much. But I still try to follow because it can still be great. It just needs the public's interest, which for various reasons has voluntarily waned over time.

They don't build all those Casinos because they lose......_.jpeg

When he plowed through that Clemson DB that was beautiful. I want to see a lot more of that next season. With Joe at QB I believe Bru will get a lot more targets. He may not always get separation but if the ball is catchable he will come down with it everytime(see Orange Bowl TD). Joe isn't scared to fire it in there, hopefully we force feed Bru.

Generally agree, they have tons of info and balance their books well, but the most genius part of it all is also the simplest - they get to charge vig as the bookmaker, so they'll always have a built-advantage as you're stuck with it. Many of us could make a killing as "the house" too, even being amateur morans.

If they offered straight up bets, ie where a 50% long-term winning bettor could be breakeven, rather than bettors having to win 52.4% of the time just to breakeven...Vegas would likely have far less. Though all of that may be nothing compared to their edge in slots and other games.
