Thanks McGill. My past is what makes me hesitant but I'm a different person now.
We're talking post-addiction opiate use?

The other side of that coin is an estranged friend who started using opiates for pain after having struggled with addiction most of his life and having kicked it.

He fell back into the addiction hard, has lost his family and is estranged from everyone in his life, including adult kids.

had a back and leg surgery, one of 9 in my time due to an incident when I was a toddler. Anyhow they prescribed opiates after the procedures. Unfortunately addiction ran in my mothers side, I was hesitant and super uncomfortable for a long time before I absolutely had to use them. So far no addiction and I pray for everyone’s families and friends that have to deal with the destruction it causes. Truly a “pandemic”

There are blessings for sure. It just amazes me how many awful drivers there are. You can't just stop in the middle of the road to turn around. My daughter was in a bad accident right in front of my house. She got hit in the side, turning left into our driveway by a numbnuts who decided to go around her on the left. Her car barely missed mine and she ended up down in the yard beside our house. The dude ran and was caught immediately. I heard the garage door open so I know it was her and then heard the crash. Absolutely terrifying. She was not seriously injured and I will be forever grateful for that.

Very glad to hear she wasn't hurt. I passed a slow vehicle on a two lane highway a few months back. As I was beside them passing I realized that the truck that had been behind me decided to pass me as I was passing the the slow vehicle. The guy in the truck was mostly off the road until he shot in front of me and the other car at an angle to avoid a tree and nearly took out my front driver's side.

I couldn't believe he was stupid enough to do that and then he acted like he wanted to fight me and kept brake checking me on down the highway because I honked at him. I dropped my sport edition in SR gear that allows more gas to the engine and left him and his POS in my rear view. I'm a grown man and don't have the inclination to play games with some young redneck that was probably drunk....no good could have come of it. Glad I'm more patient as I've gotten older.....lots of psychotic idiots out there and especially here in FL.

Hence my hesitation but I know my boundaries and what I have to lose. I prefer to not take anything other than ibuprofen. I'm thinking that I will just tear up any prescriptions I'm given and stop going once the case is over.

Faris looks like he would be a good hire. He's from Knoxville, I believe, and among his other duties at Duke, he was the recruiting coordintor at one point. Also won an award for his community work. Seems solid.

Abeln has the advantage of already working within the system but lacks experience. He's never been out on the road to recruit. But everyone starts somewhere.

I'd rather trust the guy who has done it, but whatever Heupel decides works for me. As long as we keep improving on the field, I'm all good. (And I'm not just talking win/loss record for those ready to say 11-2. We had a great season. Still, plenty of areas we can improve, and consistency is the real key.)

Crap drivers and no patience is not a good mix and leads to accidents.

Hope everyone is doing well. Not sure what is going on with @VOLSONLY but sending good vibes your way. I haven't been on much since Christmas.....been a little down.

The day after Christmas I was in a bad wreck. I was on a 2 lane highway coming back near the city, 60mph speed limit. The car in front of me that I was coming up on was going a little slower than my 65 or so. The driver tapped their brakes and then let off the brake and kept going. I saw this happen and let off the gas....I wasn't sure why they had done that but didn't see anyone ahead of them that would have caused it so I started to get back up to speed and was thinking about whether I was going to pass on the dotted yellow line or wait and see what they did. A lot of older), country folks in that area will go 10 or 20 miles under the speed limit and passing is common when safe. Unfortunately, the highway dipped diwn not far past them so couldn't tell if a car/truck might be coming. It was also dark.

All of a sudden, the driver comes to a dead stop right as I was reaching my top acceleration. I tried to react but by the time I could I slammed into them at about 60. I never saw who was in the vehicle but after I came to, turned off my engine, got helped out of the car, got looked at in an ambulance, my head cleared some from airbag impact to the face and steering wheel to the sternum and I started getting my license plate and work gear out of the car.....an officer approached me. I asked him what happened and if everyone was OK.

He told me that the lady in front of me saw traffic/emergency lights from another wreck a mile up and couldn't decide if she wanted to keep going and get caught in traffic or turn around and go back the other way. I asked how she could possibly see a wreck a mile away with dips, curves and woods everywhere...no answer on that other than "maybe saw tail lights or emergency lights bouncing off trees in the distance." This lady decided to go back the other way and stopped dead in the road right in front of me to turn around. I couldn't believe it....who the hell does that at high speed instead of using a side road or emergency flashers and the shoulder? The cop then said nobody was being ticketed but I'd be held responsible "because she was in front of me and could decide to do what she wanted and it was my responsibility to avoid her." I couldn't believe what I was hearing and my attorney also disagrees. My wife was there by then and we made a smart-ass point about what if I did that on the interstate. Would the pileup be everyone else's fault? Anyway, FL is a comparative liability state and one of a few where you can settle or win in court as long as you aren't 100% at fault.

I went to the ER and they acted like nothing was wrong from X-rays and told me to "be active so I wasn't too sore" and go see an Orthopedic doctor. Well....I got my MRI results and I shredded the muscles and soft tissue attached to my sternum, have 7 herniated discs in back and neck that are severely inflamed and I also have a fracture of my anterior column(part of spine) by one of the herniated discs in my lower back. Yay me....I've gone my whole life without a major back injury and now this happens. Definitely put a damper on the holidays. Any VN attorneys have thoughts on if that officer was as wrong as he sounded?
I’m so sorry and glad you’re still with us. I don’t have any advice but will keep you in my 🙏
