I was really impressed with Southeast NJ. Most of the state is actually pretty cool. Lots of wild spaces. The people kinda suck though.

I lived in MS and had a lot of preconceived opinions on the state and people. I was wrong. Some things I didn't like but the people are top notch and there is actually a lot to like. I find myself missing it now and then. It's not Tennessee, but it ain't bad.
I hate how we just down a whole state for something we don’t like like I just did lol. Seriously, it just a personal preference with me about city versus country. And was just wondering if Mississippi was being downed because it’s more rural.

That’s pretty bad. You’d much rather lose to Kentucky. I don’t think we’re done with jaw-dropping losses with this team though. They just feel…. weird. Metrics say this is the best Tennessee team in 20 years but 2018/2019 beats this team. Wouldn’t you love to see👇🏻 squad square up against this one?

This years team just has an average at best offense. I don't know why people can't understand that this is a very good team with big flaws.

They will win most of their games when the offense just plays average or better because they play elite defense, and they will lose whenever they have a crappy shooting night or the ither team just has one of those "can't miss" games...it is what it is.

I appreciate having a consistent really good program that at least gives you a shot at winning the SEC or National Championship year in and year out.

I agree with this

I disagree. I don’t think most Vol fans are taking it for granted. Look at TBA, it’s full for basketball. Always idiots online but most Vol fans are enjoying basketball. But I think many just don’t expect a championship or run in March which tempers expectations and excitement. They are allowed to feel that way when you look at how Ricks teams perform in March. I love watching the basketball team but I do not have any thoughts of this team making it far in March. Rick just doesn’t do well in March.

Counterpoint. How many coaches “do well” in March? I think Rick is unfairly judged, but that is just my opinion. I can only think of a handful of active coaches that I would classify right now as good March coaches. The tournament is a bear to navigate, there is a reason NBA does a 7 game series. There is a lot of luck involved in both the draw and shooting variance.

I’m not quite sure who is a “guaranteed” March coach. Musselman is probably the only active SEC coach who I would consider a good March coach based on our fans own standards.

Davison Igbinosun and Tennessee continue to have great dialogue. Tennessee has been to see him this week. He isn’t in there yet but don’t be surprised if he ends up in the directory sometime soon. With that said, I think UCLA is someone he may go see this week. Still feel like there is positive momentum for the Vols. Just think this one is going to drag out for a few more days. 🤙🏼🤙🏼🌊🌊🐋🐢🏝️

Losing to Kentucky is not the same as losing to Temple. In no universe is it the same. And UK is at least, right now, a tournament team.

And my point is that it's basketball, and almost every team has an outlier loss. It's not a big deal. If you don't understand that, you don't understand basketball.
You should understand by now that very few posters here understand the nature of BB.

For how long he has been coaching and some players/teams he has had, he should have some years where making the elite eight was easily attainable. I like Rick and we always have good teams. But it’s not wrong to say he has had struggles in the tournament.

Where did I say the vols were bad? I said it was a terrible loss. A Kentucky team who was beaten at home by a SC team we just beat by 40+(At SC),then beating us at home. That is a terrible loss. Put whatever spin you want on it.

Alabama beat them by 20+ at UK.
I have watched dominant CBB teams lose to vastly outmanned teams my whole life, I have seen many more great teams lose to mediocre teams that do have talent...you do not get it.

When I was young, I watched a GREAT Duke team led by one of the GOAT coaches almost lose in the first round of the NCAA tourney to a little team from IIRC Mississippi Valley State in 1986...that game taught me never to assume a win in CBB ever again.

He has had struggles. Very true. I’m not denying that. I’m just not sure how many coaches out there are guarantees to do better. I know “tournament sport” etc. etc. Winning in March is really, really hard. Few coaches could come to Knoxville and make me feel better about our chances to go far in the Big Dance.

I just know our fans, who give Rick an unfair hard time, are going to be severely disappointed when he retires and our program takes the natural step back. They will wish we were still winning as often as Rick had us winning.

Had some family stuff an other things going on, so I'm digging out from under about 800 pages I haven't read. When you say Dalton area, you talking Georgia? That's where I live (since 1999)
Yep...I mostly lived in Murray County, but still in the Dalton area from 88-98. I did live in Dalton proper in 95-97.

It would be easier to take if we didn’t lose to some of these teams that we had no business losing too…. Michigan still pisses me off.

I don’t know if it’s a for sure thing that the program takes a “step back”. With AD White hiring and his support with facilities and everything I’m highly confident in the basketball program afterwards
