Tennessee hosted a slew of recruits for their final Junior Day of January. One of the headliners of the event was highly coveted Lake Cormorant (Miss.) defensive lineman
Kamarion Franklin. The standout prospect discussed the visit with Volquest.
“It was good,” Franklin said of the Saturday spent with the Vols. “The atmosphere was great. We got here a little late, so we didn’t get to see that much but, we did spend time with the coaches. I talked with Coach Heupel, Coach Garner and Coach Mack. We are going to be back here in the morning to chill and show the family around. I enjoyed everything—the atmosphere and environment.”
Coming into the visit, Franklin wanted to see how much of a priority Tennessee made him during the visit, and he got the answer he was looking for.
“They just showed how much of a priority I am,” Franklin said of what stood out. “They rolled out the red carpet and I definitely felt the love here. Really just showing how big of a priority I am and how at the top of the list I am for them. I was shown I was a priority for the. Coach Heupel was prioritizing me, and I liked that.”
Rodney Garner stopped in to see Franklin play basketball recently, so he enjoyed the opportunity to take in a basketball game with the Tennessee defensive line coach.
“It was good,” Franklin said of spending time with Garner at the basketball game. “They keep on prioritizing me, and it is not going unnoticed. We have a good relationship. He is a great guy, and I feel like he is a great coach.”
Franklin, who remains in no hurry to rush to a decision, still has Tennessee high on his list coming out of Saturday.
“It is still the same, really,” Franklin said of the Vols standing. “They are still high on my list right now. I enjoyed it, and I will be back for a spring practice, if not the spring game.”
He will also take trips to several other schools, as he continues to narrow the focus in his recruitment.
“Texas A&M, Auburn, Florida State, the University of Miami, and I will be back here,” Franklin said on where he will visit in the spring.
Franklin will have the month of February to process, as recruits cannot take any visits, and then he will hit the road hard in the spring. As he does, he knows what he is looking for in a school.
I am looking for a place that feels like home,” he said. “A place that is going to develop me on and off the field, and just who has the best interest at heart.”
