There is no way SEC officiating is clean....I've seen way too much pure from SEC refs in every sport to believe otherwise.I don't think it's a disadvantage on Tennessee. I think in the SEC they favor teams to maximize their tournament seats. Several teams would have most likely not made the tournament had they not beaten the vols. KY was likely missing the tournament without both their wins.
As for today, they called fouls on Uros and reviewed all of them to try and make a case for flagrant. Uros has a target on his back, some deserved. The officials were absolutely doing what they could to keep Duke close. I don't think there was a concerted effort to insure a Duke win but they wanted them close enough where that had a chance.
I will never understand how people can watch college sports and think the officials are on the up and up. I have watched them freakin rob us blind for years...calling a thief a thief is not "victim-y"...it is wanting honesty and justice.
Sometimes it is just human error....but when it happens over and over and over...it is on purpose corruption.
For me personally...the only real big issue I had with the refs tonight was leaving Roach in...that was pure garbage.
There are no easy games now. I would actually feel better about playing Purdue. The Blue Devils were outscored 15-2 in bench points and got just 22 minutes from their bench. Bench players for Tennessee logged 76 minutes, and just one starter played more than 30 minutes for the Vols. All five Duke starters logged 33 or more minutes.
With No. 16 seed Fairleigh Dickinson stunning the college basketball world by defeating No. 1 seed Purdue on Friday, the East Regional is officially up for grabs. The Volunteers will have a golden opportunity to match the program's deepest-ever NCAA Tournament run by making the Elite Eight next week if they can get past the winner of Sunday's game between FAU and FDU. From there, potential opponents would include Marquette, Kansas State, Kentucky and Michigan State.
This is just the 10th time in history the Vols have entered the round of 16. It may be the best chance ever to move to the elite 8.
