Did I just read that right?!

51 mill A YEAR?!? Dear god salary inflation in sports is nuts.

Dan Marino made that much ($51mm) his entire career. Imagine if you made as much as your dad did his entire life...in a single year...and weren't even as good as him at the job.
He's good, but he's nowhere near the best player in the league. Flacco syndrome in Philly. Elite supporting cast makes a QB look amazing on a super bowl run, team overpays him, then they can't afford the supporting cast anymore.

That's how teams get cap strapped, it's the reason the Ravens are not giving Lamar the big contract
Yeah I know

I'm wondering if eventually some teams can go back to winning titles by playing ball control/field position football again if they can supplement the rest of their roster with an average QB. If we keep paying qb's more then how in the hell will it be possible to pay anybody else.

Saw it in Seattle with Wilson. Packers with Rodgers. Max pay a qb is more likely to tank your team than anything. Curious if KC is about to experience it, but they seem prepared to overcome.

In 2-3 years when they have to resign a lot of the supporting cast it’s probably not that much of an overpayment with how the cap is jumping tbh

The cap keeps getting raised by large amounts (due to the insane TV contracts the NFL is signing), allowing the overpayment of the QB's to continue indefinitely.
I wonder how long it will be before it prices the majority of the fans out of the game.

Wow wow wow

Just googled highest paid QBs

Had no idea there were a dozen QBs now making $37mm+ a year. Sheesus. Derek freakin Carr makes $37.5mm a year?!? Meanwhile expect only upper middle class and above able to afford tickets to even see them. What is the world coming to?

Remember thinking Manning and Brady were Warren Buffett making a "measly" 15-20mm a year in their heydays 😅🤣😂

Oh and...

JG makes $800k a year. All that hate for a Vol that sacrificed his body under the worst coaches of all-time...and now he's a millionaire in Y2...😅 He also just seems like a genuinely good guy and driven by his faith and a team player even when he was ousted by the great HB15.

I never had any hate for him while he was here, just sadness and aggravation. Glad to see him make a few bucks as all of us should.

Couple years ago in many games imo

Just look at cfb playoffs or nba finals tickets. To a lesser degree, but...any big game. Might as well take a loan out on your car or be a millionaire for some of the games these days. $500-2,000 for so so tix. 20k for a top ticket for the NBA finals.

Warriors v Kings tickets right now are averaging $821. Have fun with taking your family out for the night on the hardwood...😒 The outcome of growing inequalities is coming for us all.
