NFL gave my Dolphins the 2nd hardest schedule in the league. Thanks a lot, Goodell.

I thought they intentionally gave hardest schedule to super bowl winner and easiest to worst record on a continuous scale as a equalizer (and to help new names make wild card). Just like the draft. In other words, the opposite of UGA getting the easiest schedule.

Did that change? Or was that never a policy?

Part of it. It’s just a rotation from year to year with a couple of games being determined by how teams finished the previous season. We can already determine 14 games for each team next year based on rotation. People like the reveal to see the prime time matchups.

Each team plays their division twice (6 games). They then play an entire division in the opposite conference- rotates every 4 years (4 games). They play an entire division within their own conference- rotates every 3 years (4 games). 2 games are from the other 2 divisions within their own conference (these are based on how teams finished the previous season)- provides a little parity. The only one I’m not exactly sure about is the 17th game that got added. It’s all a formula and can be determined pretty easily.
