just got mine and assembling/seasoning tonight
I bought 3 new batteries with an external charger. I've tried different batteries. Tired it without the batteries, with and without the SD card. Spent 30 minutes on the phone with GoPro support with no help. No repair options. I think she's done for.Sounds like a battery issue. Id buy a new one and switch out the battteries and if that solves it, then return the new one.

That was my next step. They look clean. The camera looks brand new.Might be corroded contacts inside the GoPro. Usually a bit of rubbing alcohol (90%+) on a brush can knock it off, if it's really on there you can scrap it with a small flat head screwdriver, but be careful since they can bend.
If you try cleaning just dip the brush in the alcohol and shake most off then lightly brush them off for a bit and let it dry before trying a battery again.
Planned obsolescence, probably. . . wouldnt surprise me.I bought 3 new batteries with an external charger. I've tried different batteries. There is also a dude that fixes broken stuff for free on YouTube. He makes videos about the repair. He probably has a waiting list a country mile long though.Yeah, could also just be bricked. You can sell 'em broken on eBay for a few bucks, someone will think they can fix it or want to try or just want pieces of it.
Got the 36" and it actually just arrived. I have a buttload of other accessories coming via Amazon today for cleaning, cooking, hanging, etc. I'll be cooking rice today so tomorrow we can get some hibachi action going.Have had my 28" for a few years now...here's my best advice
1. clean before and after use (and when I clean I turn the heat on low, scrap it down and then use water and steam clean)
2. after you clean before covering wipe on a thin layer of oil and let it smoke off then let the entire thing cool down
3. get a cover ASAP
You'll have hot spots, so when you season don't crank all the eyes to full heat. My unit has a total of 2 burners and even with them both on low the surface reaches 350-400 degrees with no issue. You can always get 'em a bit hotter, but once they are hot it takes forever to cool back down. Start on the lowest setting and then work your heat up if you want it higher.
