I’m sure this is directed to me so I’ll reply. When I say some people can’t handle recruiting, it’s not about congratulating a 3 star that just committed. That’s just a nice way to support a HS kid who committed to play for our favorite school. It’s more about situations like yesterday when Wiltfong put in a crystal ball and some people say things like the “staff can’t recruit!”
I don’t know what you do for a living, but I’m a sales professional and I’ve been in sales for over 20 years. And believe it or not recruiting IS sales. College football coaches have two main jobs, they are coaches, and they are sales people. And in sales you are going to lose much more than you are going to win that’s just the nature of the beast. It’s a numbers game. And some people can’t handle it.
I’ve seen hundreds of sales people come and go over the years. They get hired, they’re all excited they’re ready to sell and take on the world! And ultimately they can’t handle the “No’s”. It ruins their confidence and they give up. The best sales people in the world never give up, they are very positive and optimistic and people like them. They constantly follow up and persist and do their best to sell their product or service.
But in the end even the best salespeople will have a 20 to 30% close ratio. So if our staff offers and recruits 100 kids they naturally will only sign 20-30. It’s similar to baseball, the best hitters fail 7/10 times at the plate.
GBO!
I don't think this is a bad prediction. From the outside looking in its pretty fair.
All facts. Good summary of sales life.I’m sure this is directed to me so I’ll reply. When I say some people can’t handle recruiting, it’s not about congratulating a 3 star that just committed. I posted under handle 'Ugahater', and yes there were times in ze life, such as first few years of marriage that I didnt post, just read.Saw in another thread you mentioned being on here for 18 years. Did a little math based on general trends I see from your recent posting volume.
Estimate of 25 posts per day (maybe a little conservative but figured it was average) x 365 days per year x 18 years = 164,250 posts
So either you had a lot of years with little to no posting or you lost a lot of post history in The Great Purge a couple years ago.
