Still. They're not evenly bad. Vandy has a roster that is middling in terms of all D1. It was 60th in 2022 composite. For some perspective Duke was 64th, Syracuse 66th, Memphis 68th, San Jose State 87th, K-State 70th, Kansas 71st, BYU 76th, and Hawaii 110th in the team talent composite for 2022.

Vandy vs Hawaii is basically UGA versus Boston College.

Not here in Lego county professor 😁 but I like it..

Yeah I mean my point is basically the opposite of what you are saying.

Talent (and coaching talent for that matter) are not evenly distributed. There is a massive difference between the team with the most talent and the 20th most talent.

There is virtually no difference between the team with the 80th most talent and the team with the 100th most talent. Factor in subpar coaching, first game of the year... Vandy's talent advantage on paper won't necessarily appear on the field. And we are seeing that play out with just an ugly game from both teams.

Not sure I buy that talent washes out. I think coaching mitigates talent advantages as do other factors but more talent is more talent. It's not the only thing but it's a huge part of the equation and when a team with this big of an advantage plays this poorly against an opponent those other things like coaching deserve a hard look. Just like Tennessee over-performing rightfully brought Heupel praise this kind of performance should bring scrutiny to Vandy's coach.
