In honor of officially *Give Him* 6! days until it’s Football Time in Tennessee!
Yes he is.August 27, 1982
On this day in 1982, Rickey Henderson, the greatest base stealer of all time, broke the single-season stolen base record. The record belonged to Lou Brock, who stole 118 bases back in 1974. Henderson stole four bags in his record-setting game, collecting his 122nd SB of the season. With a month still left to play, Henderson would finish up the year with 130 SBs, which still stands as the modern MLB record (since 1900). Henderson finished his HOF career with a whopping 1,406 SBs, the most of all-time.
Greatest leadoff hitter in history. Period. End of discussion.
When Rickey got a hit or walk everyone knew he was going to steal and there wasn't a damn thing they could do about it!!!Yes he is.
Too bad his years in New York were all but wasted.
‘85 & ‘86 with the Yankees were better all around years than ‘90 & ‘91 back in Oakland.
He was at his peak combination of Speed & Power in NY. And was still a good defender too.
dad was in law school with jon. john put his heart and soul into it. day in and out. when he was done, he was... done. There are really no words to adequately describe how much I miss that voice....we went from the elite of the elite to the worst of the worst....and it makes absolutely no sense to me how he has been able to keep this job all these years, and I never will.
Before any of you mealy mouthed better-than-you's start...I don't care ine iota how great a guy he is...he is absolutely 100% horrible at the job and should never have gotten within 10 miles of the booth at Tennessee.
I will never understand how we got stuck with him...in Bob's own lackluster (yet 1000% appropriate in this case) words..."what a turn of events"
Please please please Mr. Danny White...please push him out the door and get us a Voice of the Vols that we deserve!
I have faith Danny White will make this right and still give Bob Kesling a retirement send off. There are really no words to adequately describe how much I miss that voice....we went from the elite of the elite to the worst of the worst....and it makes absolutely no sense to me how he has been able to keep this job all these years, and I never will.

I've heard from at least a dozen people who've worked with him that Bob is not a great guy.dad was in law school with jon. john put his heart and soul into it. day in and out. when he was done, he was... done.
bob was well known at dick broadcasting. great guy. but being a great guy doesn't make you good at your job. also doesnt help you following one of the greatest to have ever done the job
