Good! They looked like q-tips in the smokey grays last year. I'm a traditionalist, but I also think that if we have alternate jerseys/helmets that are respectful of tradition a few games/year, it keeps it fun, and the dividends it pays in recruiting is well worth it.

Yep. I foresee a Nike version of the Smokey Grays that looks really nice. I'm just so ready to dump that Godawful tire print tread on the front/shoulders of our current jerseys. I didn't mind anything else about it. The rest of the jersey is pretty clean.

For the thousands in attendance, and for the millions watching around the world.....IIIIIIIIIT'S TIIIIIIIIIIIIME!!!!!!

Let's talk about the 'Orange Code' the Vols established Wednesday night as a team and more of what it entails. It was a players-led meeting, with the Vols' players' staff playing a key role but sources telling VolQuest.com a number of team members had a big hand in the meeting.

So what's the 'Orange Code'? Players convened to discuss what they need to do coming into this season to be more unified, more efficient and precisely how they believe they can return the Vols to the postseason.

The goal, per players, is to come together more closely in all facets. So this is a team now planning more team-wide functions, with everyone hanging out together rather than splitting off into factions, be it defensive cliques or positional groupings. The message players delivered one another was of 'one together.' They discussed having more team dinners, making sure their teammates aren't eating alone --- regardless of position --- and basically being a unified front.

They also established behavioral guidelines for the season. Players voted to sustain a policy of no going out on Thursday nights during season and also of no bars during the season. Leaders on the team indicated they would again be conducting in-season checks of area businesses, etc.

VQ

This team seems to have their heads in the right place! Pumped!!!!

"My major concern in talking to some sources close to the team is Tennessee's offensive tackle play. To be honest, some close to the program are scared of what will become of the tackles. Will they be able to pass block? This is going to be a really interesting camp for Blair. He's in better shape no doubt but can he move quickly enough to create resistance? We don't need All American play out of him just adequate play. If he improves and Coleman Thomas comes along then, Tennessee could win a few more than the Vegas over/under of 5.5. If that pair doesn't take the next step it could be a really long season around here."

TB's blog. Optimistic blog overall but this point is probably the biggest heading into camp.

You know quite a few teams gutted the Sooner Defense running the ball. Let him punish a tough defense before crowning him anything please. I'm so tired of this Henry hype.

then he did what he was supposed to do...i dont see why it would matter much to you if i think hes a great back

The fear tactics surrounding the offensive tackle position prior to Fall camp even starting is really bizarre to me.

I don’t think it’s a fear tactic, I think it’s a legitimate concern. If you go back to last year CBJ clearly pointed out that the 2013 team would only go as far as McCullers and the D line would take them. As we all saw, Butch wasn’t joking and knew that was the biggest weakness of the team.

Butch made the same statement this year about the O line stating we will only go as far as the Oline takes us. I will agree by saying I don’t think this Oline will be “all time bad” but there certainly are concerns.

On oline, I believe our interior will be fine. I am worried about the tackles.

On dline, our ends will be fine I am worried about tackles there too

Just remember ut started 4 true freshman a few years back with coach dumb@$$ leading the team.....I feel a lot better with this years line then I did then....I think we will b OK..imo

I agree it's a concern, it's just this "sources" business that makes it sound like it's based on something we weren't privy to, which isn't true. The last time these guys were on the field was In the Spring. They've been working all summer. Now that Fall camp is starting, let's keep an eye on it and chart the improvement or the lack thereof.

I've thought the same thing. It's weird that all this popped up at the very end of summer workouts when no one really even knows yet how the OTs are going to look in fall camp. It's obviously a concern, but what new information are these sources basing their reports on?

IMO they see they know everyone is pumped and this is just a reminder leak of reality and trying to temper expectations so we aren't flipping out when we have bad games

csprig9,

I see you like Fred Bear. Are you a Bow Hunter?

If anyone knows...

When's practice today?
And will there be any practice reports?

Maybe because I'm tired hearing Bama's hype this one game wonder up. He had ONE good game period. Now you are already thinking he's better than Shaun Alexander. Let him at least carry a team on his back first or something.

Poor tackle play, especially if it is just one side of the line can be schemed around with the play makers we have on offense now.

That being said I haven't been pleased with the lack of screen plays called this far.
