I didn't realize our run defense was so brutal. Granted there's like 5 teams in front of us all giving up around 160 ypg, so we could be a few notches higher..but either way it needs to improve.

Strength of schedule might play into it.

True..still needs to improve throughout the year which I'm sure it will.

Also looking at that list, it's an absolute joke that Marquez North isn't even in the top 15 in receiving in the conference. And the guy ranked 15th is only averaging 59 ypg.

I feel like I harp on it every week but my goodness Jake give this guy some more touches please.

Just to clear things up..

There's been plenty of talk about Lil' John this week after his tweet to the Vols football account. He will not be in the stadium on Saturday although that rumor at one point a couple of weeks was looking like a real possibility but his travel schedule would not allow it. Don't rule out the 43 year old hip hop artist making an appearance either in person on or the Jumbotron at some point this fall. However, he will not be in the stadium on Saturday.

Strength if schedule is a huge part of that run defense stat

North needs the ball 10 times per game. Do it. Don't ask questions. Do it

Yes Ron, we beat Florida, and I will be on cloud nine for weeks

Granted we have played Oklahoma and UGA.

Yeah i think its a huge accomplishment for us to be 7th in total d at this point after playin those guys. Especially with all the preseason talk about how bad the line was gonna be. Impressive start for sure.

If he's bracketed, we have plenty of other really viable options. No sense in trying to force it. The extra attention on him will pull coverage off of one of our other super athletic WRs/TEs.

Yeah something is wrong with that rush D table on their site.

With the Titans sucking this year (as always), my interest in the league is sinking fast. Once Peyton retires, I doubt I'll give a damn unless someone like Worley somehow makes it and becomes a franchise QB.

The commentators (excluding Gruden) are boring and it's the same crap year in and year out.

College football is so superior, I can't even take the opinions of people who prefer the NFL seriously.

Could not be stated any better. Agree 100%.

I get the impression that we do not target matchups or specific personnel. We run a system. And if the system dictates we target our third best player and let our best player rot on the vine, that's what we will do.

So far its been taking a very undermanned squad with a few bright spots and brute forcing them into a scheme.

I don't mean to be as negative as that sounds. Once the talent gets here it may work out perfectly.

I think that Jones/Bajakian have purposely limited the passing to help Worley be successful. Kind of like when Kiffin limited Crompton to reading only half the field. They call for a lot of quick outs to a receiver that is basically standing still. That helps with his accuracy issues, which is also why I think we don't see a lot of slants. He throws behind them way too much. I think at one point most of our passes were completed behind the LOS. Someone was talking about back shoulder throws earlier. I don't think he is anywhere near that accurate. And if North has press coverage with safety help over the top, I don't think he will get a lot of targets. That is not to say I don't think he is much improved. He stands in there under a big rush and gets pounded a lot. I think he is getting close to his maximum potential but the coaches are helping him get there with the play calling. And I think he is getting better as well. The TD pass down the middle to Pig was a throw I was surprised he could make. I think he is playing about as well as he can, which is all anyone could ask.

I hear ya. The more I think about it, you're right on the parity issue. I'm just biased because I'm a Titans fan and it seems like they perpetually suck.

I understand. I am a Cowboys fan (born in Dallas), and the last 15 years have been brutal. But the fantasy aspect has kept me entertained. At times, though, I have thought about not doing that because luck plays a big part in it.

Interesting point. The throw to Pig and the sideline throw to Josh Smith (in one of the first 2 games) have shown he has improved. I just didn't understand why they let him throw deep outs last year when his arm strength wasn't there. The late first half pick 6 at Alabama was an example. But he has certainly improved, and that is an interesting thought about the slants.

You may be right on the slants - but how would we know when there have been like 2-3 called all season and I know one of them was completed. It's not just slants. They use to call double dig routes occasionally - which he completed. Not called any more. Crossing routes under the zone to the slot or WR - less than a handful.

The fact that he is very accurately completing passes to his TE down the seam, a deep post to Pig, etc. tells us he can read a D and lead his receiver accurately.
