Seeing how CBJ handled the QB situation and now the OL, I believe that.

I think it's more of he doesn't want to bench Kerbyson, Jackson or Robertson and he feels that Gilliam deserves to start based on what he did to get back. Kendrick will play a lot so don't see the big deal about whit plays the first down of game

Eff internal politics. As long as Kendrick hasn't messed up off the field, he deserves to play.

If Tennessee plays the same offensive line from Bama, I feel a victory coming on. If Butch Jones really goes ahead and plays Kerbyson at tackle and takes Brett Kendrick out of his starting lineup, he's silly. He better quit playing games with the line and leave that kid in and let him play. What's the deal? Kendrick had 5 knock down blocks versus Bama which is more than the rest of UT's OL combined. Kerbyson is a natural interior lineman. If Jones doesn't have Kendrick out there to start tomorrow, I'm going to really question what's going on. It makes no sense. Remember my observation about Jones, its one thing to be wrong, it's another thing to stay wrong. This guy needs to lose his stubborn act going forward. He didn't invent football. It makes zero sense. We all saw what we saw. This ain't rocket science. Butch Jones can't really believe it’s the best five for UT's OL if he puts Marcus Jackson and guard with Gilliam at RT along with Kerbyson outside @ LT. It's getting silly coach Jones. Please reconsider and do the right thing.

That doesn't make any sense when Kendrick is obviously a better LT than Kerbyson. Why would you think he should start?

It will be very interesting to see if there is any staff turnover in the off season.

You start and play your best players who give you the best chance to win.

I like Butch but he's one stubborn coach. He has to know that Kendrick should be starting based on the Bama game. Not sure what could be going on.

There's got to be something going on behind the scenes with this Kendrick story. It just doesn't add up. Tomorrow's projected O-line isn't fair to Kerbyson because he's a good guard and doesn't have the skill set for tackle. Is it personal? Does Butch Jones not like Kendrick or his family? Was Kendrick born in the wrong month? Horoscopes? Does he drive the wrong car? Is it the way he dresses? Does he have bad breath? By all accounts from my UT sources, Kendrick is model citizen. He's always on time. He's a yes sir kind of young man. Something's up and it makes zero sense. I'm not buying today what Butch Jones is selling on that one. Butch Jones is a talented salesperson and recruiter but he's not selling me today on this. His offensive line has given up 30+ sacks and only 2 in the Arkansas State and Alabama games COMBINED. Brett Kendrick played EVERY SNAP of EACH of those games. Plus UT's running game was so much better in both games with him there. Dr Sean Sinclair hinted that something is going on behind the scenes but he wouldn't elaborate. I just can't figure it out. Butch Jones is extremely stubborn, that's for sure.

Mixed emotions about this. On one hand, you have to adapt and do what is best to succeed. On the other, I know very successful people who are stubborn, and they are stubborn because they believe in their principles. As a fan, you just have to evaluate the final results to determine for yourself. I won't do that until I see a greater sample size- probably next year.

Stubborn is okay when your principles are working. It becomes an issue when you're failing and won't adjust.

Crud! Stubbornness is going to cost a bowl game this year! How in the world do you not start the same 5 as last week, and just put Jackson at LG and move Kerby to RG? We will score 30+ against that defense tonight with that OL. Come on Butch...be smart about this one!!

Good post and I see your point but Kendrick started at LT for the Arky St. game and the Bama game. The results were much better with him at that position.

Butch said that the goal was to get this team to a bowl game. Does he not realize that this could cost him a chance at that? Those who aren't questioning his decisions now will be when the season is over saying what if this and what if that.

I am 52...when I was a student at Tennessee. Coach Majors was in charge and Coach Fulmer was the OL coach...the OL was never an issue. Of course they played upperclassmen and had depth.

The current coaches should get Fulmer invoved with the current OL, his OL always played with an attitude. :salute:

Fulmer's lines were a thing of beauty. I was watching some of them not long ago and good lord - they don't make olines like that anymore at any school. Those guys made enormous holes and pushed around the dlines like they were kids.

Well, we aren't the ones who see it on a daily basis. In addition, no one can say that Kendrick would have beaten OU, UGA, UF, or OM. Several of Worley's sacks and fumbles were from the right side, and Gilliam could not play for a month. It just isn't that easy, and fans want to make it that easy. Again, mixed emotions for me. I don't have the expertise to question a coach with a conference title.

Oh yeah, I'm speaking generally and not just on this situation.

But here, I just don't see how you could turn on the film and not say that Kendrick is our best LT. Maybe I'm wrong, but it's tough for me to say he shouldn't be out there.

Especially when Robertson hasn't been great. Kerbs looked so much better inside.
