I wish people would get off this "I want this specific candidate" stuff. It's counterproductive. It's fine to demand a good coach, and we know when we're being sold a lemon, but very few fans know the myriad of variables that have to be considered when hiring a coach or which coaches would be a good fit. Was watching UNC-Mich and Vitale was dogging us for what fans and bloggers said about Schiano and his character. Then the play-by-play said they are getting what they deserve and talked about they’ve been turned down by a dozen coaches and no one wants to come here.

Need to quit focusing on current head coaches no one is going to leave their situation to come to this **** show. I can’t believe the AD can’t see that.

Honestly I’ll take this at this point in the search. I’m not a big fan of coach in waiting scenarios but I do think they can work, it’s just rare. Idk about 2-3 years though, Maybe 1-2.

To be fair putting the trust in the Haslams and Currie to make a hire that worth a damn is unrealistic for the same reasons you say not to hire kiffin.

At this point I think removing Currie and Haslam from power is more important than the coaching hire. Put that on hold and purge the scum and take our program back.
