I have a theory that is not a popular one with a certain VFL. Medley has a sweeping motion that tends to spray the ball all over the place.

My son had the same motion. Was told by a former NFL kicker that motion will never be consistent.

It was 58 and he kicked it 48 in the air.

That's not SEC level. I'm sorry. Can't blame the loss on him but he went to Butch and said he could make it. I've seen him in person hit from 63-65 (no rush in a camp). He seems to be regressing to me.
