Points stands, though - we haven't demonstrated enough success to be a common pick on these lists. Do I think we have a top 10 defense when the dust settles after the season? Yes. But I don't think we deserve that hype yet.

Clearly I still suffer from Battered Vol Syndrome but I can't help but think we are going to be a national disappointment with all this preseason hype and expectations. Hope I'm dead wrong.

We were a few plays away from being on the stage last year. We blew out a top NW team. Blew out. Yes we deserve it

Same here. I want to believe the hype. It's just been so long since I've seen it. I guess I'm too much of a wait and see guy.

Me too..I look at the roster and I think there is no way we should lose more than a game or two...and then I remember all the embarrassing beatdowns and disappointments. It is definitely BVS. I think I would feel less unease if recruiting was going great. It feels like recruits know something we don't, or they would be fighting to jump onboard.

No reason that your opinion is wrong, but here's my 2 cents. Our accent reminds me Florida St when Jimbo took over. The hype hit them one season too early, and they didn't meet expectations. Then the next year everything hit on all cylinders and they won it all.

I felt that last years hype was a bit premature and we had a lot of potential to be that 2012 Florida St team due to our youth. This year I truly feel we can meet those high expectations due to the experience gained from the lumps earned last year.

These kids aren't scared of the past and what last year gave them was the confidence to overcome adversity. My only hope is that we play LSU in Atlanta so we can kill the curse once and for all.
