Always liked you man and eventually when work settles down I will take your advice on a Wyoming or Montana trip with family.

When you do, post in the vacation thread in the pub, and I will give all the help I can...we're leaving for our 10 day Grand Tetons/Yellowstone trip in 308 days, fourteen hours and five minutes... :)

EGGZ R GOOD

On the field, two things are standing out early about Baylen Buchanan and that's both his instincts and willingness to "stick his nose in there." Staffers are loving his tenacity, aggressiveness but also understanding of the game.

Daniel Bituli is starting on some special teams already and folks believe he can have an impact there this year. Going to be interesting to watch how his body composition changes at this level; huge frame and a lot of belief he can play on the edge if he fully outgrows linebacker. But they're loving his athleticism and attitude.

Guarantano continues to impress. Am told he got whacked one recent day by Derek Barnett, bounced up and on the next play rifled a brilliant pass to Josh Malone, which at the last minute was broken up by an even better play by Cam Sutton.

Returning guys in the secondary also impressing are Rashaan Gaulden and Malik Foreman, who's definitely picked up where he left off at the end of last season and carried through spring, summer and now into camp. And Foreman remains among the Vols' faster players, especially among upperclassmen. Gaulden, if healthy, is a breakout candidate for sure.

Stewart Mandel was just on 92.9 in Atlanta and he thinks the Vols have all the pieces to be in the playoff. He also thinks UGA is going to have a rough year.

He thinks the Bama game is going to be very high stakes and possibly the game of the year.

Back to the way it should be. Last years game turned out to be more high stakes than a lot of people thought it would be. At least for Alabama. Had we pulled that one out, they would not be the defending NC's this year.

I've said before, I thought the UT/UA game last year was actually one of the better games in cfb last year. This year it has the chance of being the best game in cfb.....if the hype train is correct at least.

Personally I'd love to see Barnett, Tuttle, KMAC, and Kongbo on the DL, 5 DBs, and let JRM and DKjr just run free to chase QBS and RBS.

Yep, I was just thinking speed rush package. You might be able to stop two or three of those guys, but somebody is getting through.

LWSVOL just said no results yet from the conduct hearing for Johnson. The court probation is over in October, and nobody knows when Jones will reinstate. He said he'd be shocked if Johnson contributes this year. Thinks best scenario is a redshirt, because he is probably not in football shape, has had no contact with the coaches, and knows nothing about the system.

:ermm:

If Johnson has seriously had zero contact with the coaches and has never seen a page of the defensive playbook, then my respect level for our coaches went higher than it already was.

Well, I'd say he's going somewhere else then. We're probably not on his mind or his radar! :)

Looking at how his recruitment unfolded he only used 3 official visits. LSU, Auburn, and Texas Tech. He did name Texas Tech his leader at one point before he chose LSU. Unless he wants to open it up to anyone, I could see TT being his next landing spot.

You put Kmac and Tut in the middle of a 5 man front with any 3 man combination of Barnett, Kong, Taylor, Philips or Vereen...and O..M..G! Good luck with that.

Question for anyone associated with youth football. What are your thoughts on "hawk" tackling method?

Tennessee FB player Alexis Johnson was cleared by a
Tennessee Student Judicial Panel, allowing him a chance to return to the
football team.
Ryan Robinson, UT spokesman, said coach Butch Jones is aware
of the ruling but said at this time Johnson’s status has not changed
Greg Isaacs, Johnson’s attorney, said: `We are pleased that
Alexis Johnson was cleared by the Tennessee Student Judicial Panel.’
Isaacs: ``Alexis looks forward to resuming his athletic and
academic career at Tennessee.’’ Johnson is a DT who transferred from a JC

Dang, with all this continued hype and high rankings, you'd think we could just skip the season and go straight to the playoff.. all this hype is making me uncomfortable that we set ourselves up... WE aren't fueling the hype, the media is, but they will be the first to pounce if we come up short... we haven't done anything yet and we are already a 10 depending on what poll... would be more comfortable with a 12-14 and climb with our work on the field....

I think Johnson is headed for a redshirt but it will be nice to have him in case we get decimated at DT due to injuries.
