Um, sorry, but they are not good. They are better than last year, but they still have a ways to go. They just lost 4 straight to the Phillies. Yikes.

In the context of that quote we were playing really well including winning 2 of 4 against the Dodgers. They have played terrible to end this road trip tho. They got to 500 and then fell back down. So yeah, they were playing really good at that point, they just don't have a bullpen.

They were pretty decent but threw in the towel with trading Garcia. That told the team they are playing for next year now. And the play has followed suit.

That's a valid point. I still contend they weren't all that good. Much improved for sure and I think that they will continue to improve next year.

It's hard to say. They also lost their star player for the majority of the first half.

They are heading in the right direction. But they need some of their young pitchers in their farm system to be ready soon. The veteran "help" they brought in didn't work out. Dickey is inconsistent with really bad outings. Colon was a disaster. The ace - Terheran - is all but. And then there is the closer who shouldn't be.

Is what we netted from the Twins for Garcia better than what the Yankees gave up for him?

Fix the money and you don't need term limits. The incumbent re-election rate is so high because the incumbents have all the money.

I don't have much faith in the electorate. They elect based on sound bites. Issues are so complicated and voters are too lazy to educate themselves and really delve into the issues.

:dunno: I missed the news that he got traded to the Yankees (which is bad since my husband is a Twins fan). Looks like the Twins got 2 prospects to our 1 plus a win from him. Next time, we should cut out the middle man.

You live in Texas but are a Tennessee and Braves fan, so you must be from or lived in this area at some point.? But why the Bears?

Walter Payton. From Chattanooga so the natural choice was the Falcons, but young, free agent butchna caught a Bears game in the 70s and witnessed the one man force of nature that was Sweetness. Bought into the Monsters of the Midway and George Halas vibe. Was very painful until that mid-80's stretch of greatness...and one euphoric Super Bowl. Similar arc as my Vols in same time frame. Two football heroes...both share a name. :)

Walter Payton was easy to love. Class guy, on and off the field. Btw, have u ever read McMahon's autobiography? Good stuff and funny

Recent one? Read the one (of millions) he put out after that Super Bowl.

Yea, pretty sure the one I read was no more than a year or 2 after the Super Bowl. I found it in the free bind outside of McKay's

He was greatness. If he had been able to save his body, he'd have put up HOF numbers. Brilliant natural passer with brash gunslinger instincts...but that balls to the wall style that made him great also made him unhealthy.
