Darth, I'm not talking bout the owners banning their players. It's free market. If they want to let them use that stage for political purpose that's up to them. They'll be the ones to either pay the price or reap the benefits.
My only points were that:
1. The rarer the skill set, the more difficult it is to censure someone for mixing politics/work in unacceptable or borderline ways. And NFL player is about as rare of a skill set as there is.
2. NFL players are entertainers and their mandated time in front of cameras is their stage. They owe their fame and fortune to the NFL and its fans. But the NFL owes its existence to the players as well. I think the issue is more about whether or not they're misusing their stage time/whether it's actually worthwhile and constructive than about whether it's their stage or not.
I agree with all that. With actions there are consequences. Time will tell whether those actions were worth the consequences. Also, they'll alienate more people than they'll gain, imo. I think it hurts their cause more than it helps, imo.
We'll see. As long as the quality of the product stays steady I don't think they'll hurt themselves too much. CTE is a bigger threat to the NFL than this weekend's controversy, IMO. People move on to the next big twitter outrage pretty quickly.
I just feel like I've heard this argument before about non-athlete celebrities who still manage to do just fine.
I think the NFL is losing interest because of many reasons and this does nothing to help. I look at it the same way as the baseball strike a few years ago. Some say they've never fully recovered from the backlash. Stuff like this doesn't help. With the new cba coming up, along with what you pointed out with CTE, I think could damage NFL football tremendously.
I would challenge these players to attend 5 military funerals, talk to the families and then decide if kneeling is appropriate. If they deem that it is still a good move, fine.
These folks want the American people to hear them out and do something, then be open to the other side and let's see if we can meet on understanding terms.
You are a rapist/murderer who was more prone to commit the acts because you were taking drugs? Was Gacy and Bundy on drugs?

Nope. I've dealt with countless number of people for the past three years, both impaired and not, and their behavior while sober is COMPLETELY different.
Hernandez was already a terd. Sans MJ (which usually chills most people out), can you seriously argue that drugs would have made him better? It wouldn't, it would have made him worse.
That's pretty much common sense.
You know nothing of the killer only his deeds do not pretend to say drugs had an effect one way or another.
I said they would not and could not have helped Hernandez because he was already a murderous degenerate...adding anything other than MJ to his system would have exacerbated things.
Stop trying to create argument. Drugs tend to make bad people worse.
