I’ve always wondered, but just how close is the Alan Jackson and George strait
“Greatest of all Time” discussion for you all?..because between myself and friends we are pretty much split on who is the Goat! And it is extremely hard for me because I like both!

what's the difference if you don't mind me asking. Between Country and Western....

Hard to put your finger on it, you kind of know it when you hear it, and the differences were far more pronounced 40-50 years ago than they are today. It’s an oversimplification, but Country evolved from the Bluegrass of Appalachia and Western is based in Western Swing. Kind of like the subtle differences in culture between Tennessee and Texas. I don’t think there is any formal classification anywhere.

good singer, but never wrote not one song in his career.
Actually he did. Him and his son collaborated on 7 songs off the Here for a Good Time album. George doesn't have to be a writer though. He let's his voice do the work. You can write all day long but if you don't have the voice you don't bring home as much $. Just the nature of that business.

Bob Dylan disagrees...

Songwriters actually make the most money. They own the commercial rights to the song.
