I thought the same thing. Kport is losing all of its business to Bristol.

Yeah. I can't wrap my head around Kingsport's leaders being inept, refusing to try and grow outside of Eastman and Meade/Domtar, or if it's a conspiracy by Eastman not wanting Kingsport to grow. (keeps a cheaper labor pool) I mean the only places to work are Healthcare - which is now essentially a monopoly so they control that labor market, Eastman, Domtar, or some type of retail/restaurant/fast food.

Edit: Evidently insurance is booming.... lol.

Well, it's not really just three cities. Tri Cities metro also includes beautiful Carter County as well as Blountville, and possibly Green evil, also not a **** box.

Indeed, the Tri (meaning three) Cities are just three cities, Kingsport, Johnson City, and Bristol. If you include all the rest of the towns and cities around here, then you have the Tri Cities Region. Never heard anyone from around here use Tri Cities Metro and I've lived around here most of my life.

Apparently in '03 it was broken up into Washington and poopoo areas of SW Va, Bristol, Kingsport. Having been born here i just always referred to it as Tri Cities Metro, as it was an MSA at one pt.

Kingsport is not a bad place to live.. It really depends on your lifestyle. I will say it's is on the dead end side of things job market wise though..

I'm from carter county, but SW VA/Kingsport drivers are worst. I lived in Kingsport for a year and know live in Washington county, TN.
