He started a losing drug war, pushed crack and traded guns for said drugs. Dude was a walking hypocrite that hid behind morals. But yes when most presidents for a very long time have been pretty much awful he was maybe the least of the worst?

Happy to drop the topic, but also enjoy it (just don’t want a conversation re history to offend folks who don’t want politics here).

Can you give me an example of those who you don’t think have been awful?

In my opinion many of them have made smart decisions along the way, but there are also many areas where they failed or came up short.

It’s easy - and lazy - to build a narrative that most were “pretty much awful”. They (and their teams) are making multiple, very important decisions every day. It’s easy to point out a handful of bad ones.

LBJ did some important things domestically (application has been poor) but his foreign policy was ham fisted. Nixon - as paranoid as he was politically - was smart engaging China and interrupting global politics. Kennedy, Reagan, and Obama have been the best at inspiring/motivating the nation in the post-WWII environment. Disagree with a lot of their decisions, but they sold ideas and inspired confidence better than others.

Woodrow Wilson - in my opinion - is among the worst - but I also recognize that he was facing many challenges. His lack of knowledge of cultures and geography - combined with his authority to draw maps - helped spur many years of discord and conflict.

I would agree with your sentiments across the board. To reach that level you have to have made many many back alley deals and sell your soul many times over. Then you are in a constant grey area where you are placed in impossible positions. Don't think anyone could do a good job when the country itself has been the cause of plenty of evil.

Wait.... @Bassmaster_Vol post about Trump managing this well is what bumped us over here? Itchy trigger fingers.

Not at all.
It was moved as a result of the collective history. Given the number of repeat offenses, I'd say @Freak has shown an exceptional level of patience with several.

There's an entire internet world and even a forum here for those that choose.

Quit feeding into it by worrying about political bickering maybe?
Not worried about political bickering. But I'm watching people suffer and the market crashing while their playing games in Washington. They need to get their act together and stop worrying about November while people all over the country are losing jobs. Pretty simple.

Especially since so many counties are shutting down non essential businesses

This isn’t about November, it’s about forcing to president to pass legislation that actually helps people instead of creating a corporate slush fund with absolutely no oversight. Current R bill (which was rewritten at the last minute by McConnell, ditching a bipartisan plan) does a bad job funding front line hospitals, creates a $500b flex fund for corporations and doesn’t require public documentation of who gets what for up to 6mo. It’s a **** bill that doesn’t help people.

And there’d be less “bickering” if trump would just stop incessantly lying every time he’s in front of a mic. He hasn’t invoked the Defense Production Act despite claiming he has, GE hadnt started manufacturing ventilators when he said they had, testing is STILL lagging despite him saying it was going “great”. He’s offering help to S Korea while talking state governors to figure it out themselves. He’s completely unable to speak about anything with any level of detail or proof he understands the concept of what he’s talking about, and THATS why the markets are tanking. There is no leadership at the top. He’s flailing. He’s trying to fix a pandemic with a PR strategy and it doesn’t work.

@Bassmaster_Vol highly recommend checking out this guy if you haven't already. Dude is a Democrat but is mostly straight down the middle and doesn't have a clear bias one way or another
