Recruiting forum off topic thread (no politics, covid, or hot button issues)

For a brief period, we were a net exporter of oil. If we can provide our nation with all the oil it needs plus export some to other countries, then we have more control over the global price of oil. If we get most of our oil from OPEC countries then we are at their whim if they choose to slow production. We also need more refinery capacity but red tape slows it all down.
The red tape caused by the aggressive anti-oil/gas/coal agenda of the dumbasses running this country.

How is that BS? It’s basic economics?

Gas in the Netherlands, Norway etc.. is like $10 per gallon. And people pay that.

Which means if you mine it in the US, it’s more profitable to sell it a place like that than here.

If Russia starts reducing their oil supply and a country dependent on it like say, Latvia has to now buy Canadian oil, supply/demand dictate prices will go up for all Canadian oil buyers.

Now think about that ad naseum

So when Domestic Oil production was wide open and we were able to produce our own energy gas prices were $1.80- $2.20 range. Now we are at the mercy of people who hate us and gas is around $4. BUT, producing our own energy will have NO effect on Oil and Gas prices. Got it. Thanks for enlightening us.

The US produces more oil than any other country and it isn’t even close. Not close.

SO then opening up Keystone and drilling more is not a problem for you then. Good.

If you did, it really wouldn’t solve the problem. Like mentioned earlier, it’s a global commodity.

Let’s say you could Increase US oil production 50%. we’d then beat #2 producer by 3x. That math should only relatively reduce global prices 10% at best.

So drill away if it makes you happy I suppose

Sure you can. Just run down to your local Tesla dealer in Corbin and lay down about $70K. Go home and plug it in and you're good to go. Sleep well knowing you've done your part to save the planet.

Yeah...about that..😒 Honestly...this doesn't affect upper middle class people so much as just being aggravated that they have less discretionary funds to blow on gambling, drinking and luxury lodging.

This is grounding me from travel. Once gas gets over 4.75-5.00 I will be having to draw from my savings to pay monthly bills.

My BIL has a Tesla. Dang fun to drive. Not buying one, though.
Don't get me wrong. I love the new tech. All the automakers have some really cool stuff coming down the pike. The market was taking care of itself. EVs are the future. Having said that, you can't just turn the switch over night. We still generate 60% of our electricity via fossil fuels. You're really not not helping anything when you convert fossil fuels to electricity. It will take decades to make a dent in replacing combustion engine cars to electric. It's total top to bottom change.

My boss has 2 of them. Got solar panels installed on the house to charge them. He has a very small electric bill and no gas bill. Only cost him a little under 200k. I think he will start saving money somewhere around 2050.

Yep..pretty simple to me.

How are people going to have freedom to quickly travel cheaply around the country...or to pull boats and campers on long trips?

Yeah, that post should have been blue. This affects the lower incomes more than any. When fuel cost rises this much it will significantly increase prices of everything you buy.
I am screwed..I must be one of the only low middle class posters in this forum. What screws over and outrages me only aggravates the more prosperous classes 😒.

Totally agree. And, yes, I'm feeling OK
