Ohio? Not much. I do like Cedar Point and Kalahari Resort, though, in Sandusky.

Michigan is actually a very underrated state, especially if you have a boat. Lake St. Clair is right next to Detroit (worst major city in America, but Grosse Pointe/St. Claire Shores, where the lake is, is a super nice area). The craft beer here is incredible if you’re into that. It also gets hot af here in the summer and the freshwater beaches in West Michigan are an awesome place to cool off. Detroit is also a very passionate sports town with all 4 major league team stadiums within a few blocks of each other. The fans here and in Ohio I would classify as passionate as many SEC teams, unlike many other Big Ten states/schools. Michigan rocks! (I’m still going to try to get back down to Nashville eventually, though, lol).

Can vouch for this. My wife is from Lake St Clair/Gross Point and she’s introduced me to a lot of Michigan. Detroit is a third world country but there is so much natural beauty in that state it’s amazing. We’re heading back up in August.

In the interest of full disclosure, I’ve never been in the winter.

Winter sucks, but Chicago winter is worse than Detroit imo. At least it isn’t very windy here. And Detroit isn’t in the lake effect snow zone. I’ve never seen a ridiculous amount of snow here (like multiple feet).

Detroit is a very sad story. It is a classic case of don’t put your eggs in one basket. The City of Detroit never really cultivated any other sectors of the economy besides automotive. So when Europe and Japan started to bounce back from the war and manufacturing started to leave the US, Detroit started to decline hard. That’s the biggest reason. Then, add in the epic corruption, terrible city leadership and schools, and the riot of 1967, and people just wanted to get tf out of Detroit to the suburbs. And that’s why the suburbs of Detroit have almost 5 million people today and Detroit went from having 1.8 million people to a little over 600,000 today. It truly is a dump now and getting worse. The population continues to decline.

Five million in the burbs of Detroit? Wow, had no idea.

Burbs is a strong word. For instance, Knoxville's MSA is almost 900k and includes ELEVEN counties. But I'd never consider Oak Ridge or Maryville, or any town in a different county, a suburb of Knoxville. That would be more like Halls or Farragut. Jmo...semantics and all.

Can probably get to downtown Knox as fast from Oak Ridge as you can Halls though.

I have asked before and I am asking again, respectfully. I do not appreciate the Mom jokes and do not participate. Thank you in advance for honoring this request.
Yet you feel completely at home calling me a Commie, or, full of hot air.

I respect your position. It's all in good fun, but, I assure you I dont appreciate being called a Communist either. Just so you know.

Then I will totally stop and I apologize for my previous actions. Thank you for letting me know.

The Google says 30 minutes from Oak Ridge (which feels a little generous from when we used to go to Big Ed's a lot but jmo probably faster these days). 25 miles away.

18 minutes from Halls, 12.5 miles away.

Keep Sweet, Pray, and Obey on Netflix.

Wow. The things you weirdos do in the name of religious. 🙄

People pervert religion all the time. I disagree with what the LDS church teaches but people do it with Christianity too. They prey on people who are searching for any type of belonging that they can't see the false teaching behind it. It is terrible and I can see how it would turn many people off to seeking God. The people who prey on others in that way are not representative of what Godly people really are and their purpose is to turn others away from God. Which by your post, I would say they are achieving their goal.

I'm sure everyone, but I was commenting on @Jackcrevol and @drvenner . They could share a tissue box.
You can put your tissues on DN. I laugh at myself plenty and get and give a lot of grief with you and a lot of other posters. I respect requests from posters who legitimately ask for them. Maybe you should think about doing the same.
