Recruiting Forum: Official Appalachian State Pre-Game/Game Thread

45-10. Up 35-3 at the half. Second string comes in after first drive of 3rd quarter. Rest of it happens on the 2's.

So glad the offseason is about over!

I think Fournette,Chubb and McCaffery will be the main 3 in the Heisman talk.

I have said this in another thread. Hurd may be just as good as those guys, but he won't be up for the big awards because he is splitting carries with Abernathy, a criminally under appreciated back by national publications. Together, I think they represent a top 3 backfield in college football, but neither is going to get the kind of accolades a player like Chubb gets. If you are a voter choosing between elite running backs, you are always going to pick the one that did it all himself.

Edit: Kamara, holy crap I'm dumb.

You mean with Kamara.

I have a feeling this may be the year where CBJ never let's off the gas, including games like this. We are going to score as many points as we can, even after the back ups come in.

50+ by the offense.

Lol. Statistically Chubb is better than Gurley.

Chubb could be in for a year like Justin Hunter and Jamal Lewis had off the same injury. They both played not to get hurt, but they both still went in the first round. Lewis averaged two less yards a carry the year after he got hurt. They are the same type of player.

I do agree that Kamara definitely deserves to get his touch's and is much more of a threat to house it Everytime he touch's the ball. Hurd doesn't get as many touch's as Fournette and Chubb but both guys do have guys behind them that split their carries. I think Fournette is in a class all his own but I can see Hurd and Chubb being a long the same lines from a talent standpoint. Honestly I put #1Fournette, #2 McCaffrey,#3 Dalvin Cook, and #4 you could put Hurd,Chubb,Freeman from Oregon,Perine from OU and I forget Clemson's starting RB but those 5 in the next wave behind Fournette and Cook. I think you may be right. Establish a mindset... TBH I think depth caused CBJ to back off with a lead and try to shorten the game. You don't want players gassed late because we didn't have the 2 deep everywhere. This year I think depth is so.much better that he won't have to finesse at the end.

Very interesting thought.

Honestly hadn't looked at it that way.

I was in Berkeley for the UT vs. Cal game that day. I remember seeing a bunch of people crowded into a sports bar watching Appalachian State upset Michigan.

We went to a bar on campus in Berkeley and stood in line until they opened late morning. We were getting updates from someone.

We sat in that bar for hours and got a little toasty before the game.

Can't wait to see Hurd break a long TD run (60 plus yards)

And Dobbs to PWilly or Malone for a 50 yard plus TD pitch and catch.

Hoping to see some big time plays by our big time players.
