This week, Tennessee follows up it's thorough trouncing of the Virginia Hoos (apparently) with a lay-up vs. Austin Peay from the great Metropolis of Clarksville, TN. Ironic and tragic, this will be the second week in a row with a focus on the death of a player(s) from the opposing team as Austin Peay freshman Jeremiah Collins just died in a single car accident in Clarksville. I presume the game will go on as planned, but you never know.

Keys to Victory:

1. Fine Tune:
Tennessee played well enough to never be threatened by Virginia last week, but left enough meat on the bone to improve upon. Amongst the areas of development I would like to see this week:

A. Milton continuing to improve the speed of the offense.
B. Milton getting out of a rut quicker. We hit a three drive speed bump vs Virginia.
C. Incorporating Thornton more into the offense.
D. Bombs... many of them... just to get timing down pat under the lights.
E. Consistency in the punting game.

2. Victory is Certain: We will win, so what type of performance would be considered a great performance given the opponent?

A. Two punts or less (consistently long, naturally)
B. 4 Runs over 40 yards. This may be hard as Dee will give us short fields if he gets hold of the punts.
C. 1 Punt Return for a TD
D. 0 Turnovers
E. 2.0 YPC for Austin Peay
F. 4+ Sacks
G. Minimal Injuries
H. 1.75 quarters with minimal starters in the game

Prediction: Naming the score is tough, because we don't know how long the starters will play. I think they get a single drive to open the third quarter and the back-ups have decent success, but not at the break neck speed of the first team. Vols lead by 35 at the half, and end it at...

TN 55
AP 3

Thank you! Clean living prevails!

63-3, good guys

I don’t think Heup has ever taken out starters before half
I think that is largely right about prior years. And the first series of the 3rd quarter: he likes for them to feel and learn experientially the timing of that break and restart, he once said.

But so far this year he has been rotating a lot of players. I seem to recall that the combinations on the OL, for example, were scripted. I think a lot of people on both sides of the ball get shuffled from the start. Nico might even get the second-to-last series of the second quarter, but I bet Joe goes back in for the last and also the first series of the second half.

I almost feel bad saying this, but how are we going to get Ross reps at punting? Because we need that before he punts at Florida. I think he will do great.

I think it could be so bad that Joe is benched in the fourth quarter. The UT-Martin team we killed last year was way better than this AP team.

If UVA could do nothing at all against our D and O lines, then a team that was down 42-3 in the 4th quarter against the 5th best team in the Missouri Valley conference will get bulldozed.

*first? second?

I am mostly worried about injuries. Even if they prove to be a gentlemanly lot. Lettuce have fortune at our side.

Khalifa Keith is huge! I think he will eat in this offense eventually. Great change of pace to bring in a power back against a gassed defense and he should pass block like having another TE on the field.
So you're saying it's not going to make Peay's day, really, when work down to RB 5 on the depth chart.

These words have been a life mantra of mine

Resulting in A LOT of good memories. Plus a divorce, several restraining orders, and my only night in jail
