A couple of comments on the "conservative play-calling" critique:

It's not completely conservative. They dialed up a deep ball that would have scored if the receiver had just kept running.

Heupel has a freshman QB with young running backs who obviously struggle in pass pro, and a struggling OL. The defense has shown they can smother the opposing OL, and there is little evidence that OL can sustain drives consistently.

The LAST thing you do is give them short fields and gifts.
