AND he turned his head around on a ball to make a play! We look SO MUCH better in man coverage than we do zone.

sure did! the recognition of the slant & out+block combo, that made him drive and smash that WR to cause Juwan INT was something out of Jason Allen repertoire. THAT plus how he play he was hip to hip on his pick to turn and high point it...

Its crazy how natural he looks at CB

Slaughter can run with anybody too

Stoops lives off an easy schedule and bad OOC schedules to Make his W/L look better. But his teams get blasted against good teams.

Exactly. I will add that along with beating up on a weak schedule, a lot of his clout and "good coach" rep comes from his wins against the Gators. He had a win against Mullen in year one, a close loss in 20(I think??) and a lucky, close win against Mullen last year where UK's defense and OL played well and were more physical than UF. Mullen's teams were good but were not always prepared and his offense didn't match up very well against a 3-4 defense with a stout DL and physical corners. Was the same at Miss. State.

Stoops beat a pedestrian UF this year that is thin on depth, lacking speed/explosiveness at WR, doesn't have an efficient or accurate QB, and is not as physical in the trenches as usual. They are also in the first year of a new coach that is overrated due to dominating garbage competition with a bunch of athletic Louisiana kids that couldn't make it to a P5 school for whatever reason and stayed close to home.

USCe, Mizzou and UT have mostly been terrible while Stoops has been at UK. If you take away those UF wins then Stoops' tenure has not been impressive at all and really only 1 of the UF wins was a particularly good win.

Would love to have a pic of that hit

If he didn't have the fumbling problems, he would most definitely be our starting RB.
They seem to have been working with him that. He’s done much better the last few games. Also, I love how he runs straight ahead, small dances around to much sometimes and it costs him.

So what made the defense look so much better than earlier games? Is it improvement or was kentucky just that bad? Or both?

UK was probably somewhat overrated, their strengths also were against our strengths (Run O vs Run D), then you had some positional changes like Slaughter to CB which seemed to work very well.

So a mix of things, UK isn't great but make no mistake our D has every reason to be legit proud of last night. They looked hungry.

Defense played great
Offense played good but worried me a few times

The physicality from both corners didn’t seem to be in their scouting report.
