Seeing the ball is an equalizer when you’re a step behind. They are taught to read through the eyes and hands of the receiver… like when Slaughter tried to rip the arm of the WR that caught one on him… ddi exactly what he was taught to do but couldn’t rip through.McDonald was not in position- he got beat. I’m pretty sure they are taught not to look if they are over a yard behind.
