‘23 Recruiting Forum: Official Missouri Pregame/Game Thread

I mentioned earlier that this game reminded me of the Florida game. . . specifically the defensive game plan.

We should've just rolled out the USCe game plan. If we're gonna get smashed, I'd rather go ahead and play press man and blitz the dog crap out of the backfield all night.
But you want to win instead of trying not to lose. It takes one quarter of play to see the primary schemes of an opponent on both sides of the ball.

What we are seeing so often is absolute crap. He can take that stuff back to the Big 10. Kill or be killed in the SEC. I am watching OM do similar stuff with the same results against UGA.

This was an 8 win team coming into the season.

But seeing how bad teams are and how relatively easy our schedule was, nine wins should have been pretty easy to get.

IMO
The Florida game is the killer. Alabama and Georgia are simply better than us. Mizzou is probably at an equivalent level and sometimes you are going to lose those (no excuse for that display tonight though)

If I’m being honest, until we can consistently prove otherwise, Florida is better than us. It’s just the way it is. Extremely frustrating.

Well Georgia fixing to smoke Ole Miss....good note Washington and FSU won .....keeping Alabama out of CFP is staying on path...
Smoked!!
Anyone that brings the “we gonna beat UGA “ crap should be run out of town.

We shouldn’t
We won’t
And probably won’t keep it close.

They are out of our league.

Whatever 🤷🏻‍♂️. Been Defense this, Defense that all day from the opening kick.
Facts . We had the ball with a minute to go in the half about to go up 14-10.
Fumbled.
Our final score 7.
Defense was bad played about 45 of the 60 minutes.
Kept us within reach for a little over 3 quarters.
Every time the offense had a chance to make it a game they failed, minus 1 long TD pass.

If we didn't have championship potential then how the hell could we have possibly been up 20-7 AT Alabama? And whipping them upfront?
Because Bama is not that good and we ended up getting beat. We also have looked pedestrian against AP and like crap against Florida and didn’t dominate Kentucky like last year. It was 8-4 type team that lost to what may be a top 10 Mizzou team. We only have won 8 regular season games once since 2007 not counting last year.

You
No every Vol should be pissed at this literation of 8-4

Sorry, but we are a program with championship tradition and getting murdered by Mizzou in a game you're favored is never okay.

We have a f'n right to be pissed.

Screw the last 15 years. The previous f'n 100 years is the damn standard.
go back 50 plus years and the average is right around 7-8 wins a year.

Oh well...I told y'all Mizzou was a good team this year 🤷‍♂️ I also said this was a 7-8 win team.

It is what it is...I love our coach and you f'n morons 💩ting all over Heupel after this deserve to rot.

When you are a average team with holes and injuries playing a really good team on the road and you don't play your best...you're gonna get killed.

I hate this place after a loss...you idiots with your stupid expectations are gonna run us right back into oblivion.

I wouldn't wanna coach for you fickle a******s....I used to think we deserved better than we've gotten over the last 15 years...but comments like the dumb 💩 I've seen in here are really making me start to feel differently.

We are a toxic dump.

8-4 with a trip to Nashville or somewhere in Florida for a bowl game for a 9th win is on the table. Hit the portal hard for OL,DT,LB and maybe secondary spots. We have good, young talent on the roster defensively that will finally see the field after all these seniors leave which will come with growing pains but will also be an overall improvement. Understanding the playoffs will expand will be extra motivation late in seasons moving forward. Last season was not the norm…YET. The roster is one turnover away from being a complete Heupel roster but he needs to ask serious questions on defensive philosophy this off-season. I’m ok with griping over a potential 9 win season (bowl included) knowing who is in charge and that things will always be working to improve.

Yeah it was a wtf game. Amazon we were still in the game in the 4th quarter. Ever time something good happened well something bad took it away. Defense never turned to the right page . Offense lost the book. It was hard to watch. Still looking for a hard fought game against the puppies. Our linebackers had a horrible game not many tackles. Time to reset and move on.

The problem I have with Heupel is the da** offensive play calling. It has been bad nearly all season. Run, run, throw a 4 yard pass when you need 7 and then punt!

On another note, I have never been thoroughly impressed with Tim Banks, but if this off season we don’t let go of Willie Martinez, that will be another issue I have with Heupel. It was a terrible hire to start with and is still terrible today.
