You've convinced me.

Tennessee Golfer be like...

I've said before, there are many young ones here that could not have handled things during Coach Majors early years back in the 70's.
We did not play well. Players are not stupid, they knew that NTU could not beat them. They also know what is coming in the next two weeks. I fully believe we will see a much better effort against MO. and Vandy.
I also think it is silly to say our coaches were out coached. NTU played fired up football and our players acted like they wanted to be elsewhere. JMO. Differing opinions always welcomed.
I do think the whole field maintenance staff should be shown the door tomorrow. That field is bad.

I would have liked to see our O line come out against an inferior opponent, dominate, and gel as a unit.

We rushed for 237 yards on a field that might as well had been one of those truck runaway ramps on I-24 coming down Monteagle Mountain. That's not so bad.

Would you have been excited blowing them out? I wouldn't have cared one bit.

I wouldn't really, either, but I understand why people are frustrated. I wanted to see us come out on fire and play like we are capable of. I'm disappointed they weren't ready and hoping that doesn't carry over into the next two weeks, because the last two games have not exactly inspired a ton of confidence.

I thought we had clearly turned the corner after the UK game but then we play two mistake-riddled games at home, one against arguably the worst team in the entire FBS.

I'll take the wins, no doubt about. And I think some people are really overreacting about this game, but it was still disappointing.

1. Boring: I have never been as disinterested in a Tennessee football game in my life. It seems the team felt the same way. They did enough.

2. Gracious: The announcers commented about how Butch was close with the other head coach. Butch was not about to humiliate him, and the playcalling was conservative to keep the score within range.

3. Dobbs:
When Dobbs is not mobile, Dobbs is not very effective. This was his worst game in a long time, but it didn't matter. I'm not saying bench Dobbs, like some jokers on here, but I sure do like to watch QD throw a lil' football around.

4. Kamara / Hurd: This is not meant to start a debate, but I'm noticing that Kamara is able to cut through holes and use his explosiveness to pick up big yards. Hurd plows full steam ahead into the line, and still seems to pick up 4-5 yards a pop. He runs hard, but maybe a hair of patience would help him out, when running between the tackles.

5. Two More: I think we win the next two, but I think they are going to be very low scoring dogfights that keep fans nervous till the whistle.

I agree with all of this, nick. I am concerned with #2, because it did appear that was the game plan. Of course he would say it was to keep our injuries down, which may be a part of it, but not the full story.

It's not Butch's job at UT to take care of his buddies at other schools. His job is to get his players prepared to play football at a high level for not just the current game, but for all games. Hard to do that when the depth that is needed for all of the injuries that his rosters go through as well as his uptempo system are sitting on the bench for most of the game against one of the worst teams in CFB.

Kamara has better vision than Hurd. That's just fact. Hurd runs harder and finishes off runs better. He also has better ball security.

Good post. If you are right about 2, in what stratosphere is that acceptable? high school. We are a team with not a lot of success and we all know how momentum and positivity affects college players. If he just sandbagged it for his buddy to look better and it's this apparent then prepare for some backlash Butch. Fans deserve better than that IMO.

Having said that, I don't think Butch intentionally kept it close. I think Dobbs was THAT off. Just a bad game; he may be hurt and it is what it is.

Yea I couldn't believe how nonchalantly AK was carrying that ball on his fumble. He does have excellent cutting and acceleration. It's good to see him finally get into rhythm.

I agree. Fans need to chill the eff out though.

I thought the defensive player just made a really good play. If you watch the replay, the defensive player took a while to get his hand in between the ball and AK's body, then to get his hand under the point of the ball to rip it out.

I guess I saw it differently. Defender was draped on his back for several seconds with his mitt on the ball. Kamara, I just thought, could have brought both hands on it and prevented it.
