And I think those games will be closer than 20 also, unless our defense creates a bunch of turnovers again or our offense stops being mediocre like it has been for 3 years.

We have won 7 games since last year by more than 20 points...

I'm hoping we light it up fast and put dormady in for the second quarter and Jones in for the 4th. But I know that likely won't happen

Yea, this staff seems strangely hesitant to use backup quarterbacks. I really hope they loosen the reins this season. Our backups need game experience. Plus, it would be nice to see if Debord's play calling is different with another QB.

I agree. Wish they would put Dormady in early in the game and let him get meaningful snaps with the first team no matter what the score is. Michigan State did it last year and it helped them when he wound up starting in a big game later in the season.

Tell them you need to run to the grocery for a few items and take off for Knoxville! Come back several hours later and tell them you got sucked into a space time vortex and just found your way back to the right dimension!

In Kentucky, that's totally possible.

And I think our offense looks a lot worse this year...

No it doesn't....... Dobbs being able to throw over the top makes this offense much more dynamic. The O-line is developing a bit but we surely started running the ball similar to last year with Dobbs pulling the ball.

You guys think Butch is still trying to keep some stuff under wraps playbook wise until the UF game?

Have to think that's the game he has circled on his calendar this year (though the next game is always the most important game....lulz)

At this point with where Bama is as a program, you do your best to win but if you don't, then you're just another victim of one of the best dynasties in history. UF is a different animal. A lot of question marks and ole horse face really ran out of gas at the end of the season. Wonder if he's going to still hold back the play book against the Bobcats to keep some fresh wrinkles for UF.

Hate the strategy but still see it happening.

34-13 Vols

Also, before somebody gets on here and vomits all over the thread over my comments about Bama... I understand the tradition and we should beat them and all that, but don't kid yourself

Play calling is sandbagged as heck. There is SO much more that we will run later, and the play on the field will improve as a result, but poor field play, especially OL is not all on play calling

The vast majority of us want this game put away early. Then we want to gear up for a curb stomping of UF. Hope Butch and the guys give us what we want.

That's a good point and I think that's the variable that screwed up the appy state game so badly. Bad OL play and not being able to control the LOS is costly. I hope play variety and getting some guys healthier before UF changes it.

If I was a coach, when playing small teams, I'd change to a whole new offense with a few base plays for kicks and giggles. This week... Single wing! If after a couple of series, it's going badly, switch it up.

I would perfect my offense, score as many points as possible, and try to get backups reps.
