Recruiting Forum: Official Oklahoma Pre-Game/Game Thread

That's hilarious. My wife is an Ole Miss fan so I could see us ending up in a similar situation some day. She's almost as intense during games as I am.

I will be at my parents home this evening watching the game with my Dad. He's my best Vols friend in the world. We haven't really experienced a great win together in awhile.

Today is the day.

My lady is just as intense as I am. She just drops less curses and squeals more.

Edit: not in the bedroom. Hiyo!

No moral victories to be had tonight. That was for year 1 and 2.

Didn't say anything about a moral victory but saying winning is the measuring stick for progress is foolish.

A 1pt loss will feel awful but progress has been made regardless of the outcome.

Well we better win then or we can have the it's year 3 and no progress has been shown threads.

Gruden's dream job with Peyton as the QB coach talk can come on full speed ahead.

OU isn't a great team. For all the youth talk, they're bringing three freshman OL into a stadium that should be out of its mind. It is time to win one of these games. Some can be satisfied with a close loss for progress, but I'll call it a few steps back.

I won't be satisfied with any loss. Year 3 is plenty fair to measure in wins for progress but IMO you have to take the year as a whole. Not just 1 game that is a pick em to decide wether real progress has happened or not.

I'm so tempted right now to buy a ticket and drive up to Knoxville for this game. Somebody please tell me I don't need to spend $142 on a ticket.

If we lose, we will hear all the "Butch can't cut it" talk.

If we win, we will hear all the way too optimistic talk about the rest of the season.

I think I will wait until the end of the season to judge the results.

Having said that, I have a good feeling about the Vols today.

You're asking the wrong crowd. I would do it in a heart beat. It's why the wife manages the $

What are your 3 keys for the Vols today...

Mine are:

1. Have productive 1st downs. In last year's matchup, we had nearly 15 plays that resulted in negative yardage. That can't happen today. Keep it at no more than 5.

2. Adversity. OU is gonna get theirs. They're gonna get chunk plays, put up points, and make some plays on defense. If we get down by 10 points early, gotta have the maturity to fight through it and stay the course.

3. Watch for some blitz packages to be rolled out tonight on both sides. OU will most likely freelance Striker. He'll attack both tackles and probably come up the middle in a stunt or 2. As for UT, Barnett and Maggitt need to eat for our defense to be successful. I'd expect to see Weatherd get increased reps as well.

You don't need to spend $142 on a ticket...you may want to bring $100 more in order to get one for this game.

Game day and I'm ready. Hope everyone enjoys the game. I'm cheering for Team 119 the whole game no matter what. Hope the weather is good for you guys.
