'21 Recruiting Forum: Official Pittsburgh Pregame/Game Thread

I had to work a tournament at Bear Trace today. So I recorded and just finished 3 qrts cause espn cut away to a Tennis match. SERIOUSLY! Saw the final score. Other then stupid dumb self inflicted penalties, I did love the energy of the D. For me I hope Milton never sees the field again. He is terrible. I would rather have Hooker if your not going to play Bailey. I promise you Bailey would have hit Tillman on that wide open pass that Milton over threw by 10 yards. Milton has not accuracy at all. No touch on long passes. I am beginning to wonder about some of these coaches who are dead set on one player. Milton isn
t going to get it done. We faced a 6th year senior and for the most part our defense played good. We still don't have the players and that is clear for sure. Just hope we can still get it together somewhere in the season but I had no confidence that we would win today. Yes BVS is a horrible thing to have. lol

Milton missed Tillman, but Bailey doesn’t take the long run inside the 10 yard line. It’s a give and take.

Not sure Hooker is a long term answer either.

I think we have players to go at least 6-6.

No I’m not. I’m saying Hyatt injured himself when no one else would have caught up to the ball to do so.

Which game were you watching?..the ball was on the money lol JH needs development and another year in the weight room..he can’t catch and Keyton needs to be in

We’re a bad football team. It’ll be at least two more years before we win games like this. No QB and no depth. Heupel isn’t going anywhere and it’s going to take time. Sucks but that’s reality. He’s better than the last few coaches without a doubt.

See ya next Saturday. GBO.

Exactly how I see things.

Bailey doesn't over throw Wr's by 20 yards

My thoughts on the game (longish post)

I choose to be positive but don’t get me wrong there are no moral victories. There were a lot of unforced errors (turnovers and penalties, wasting timeouts) which CJH deserves criticism no doubt but those mistakes are correctable. Missing Evans, Small, Hyatt, Coop, and BY played a big part in this game, no excuses it’s just fact. Officiating was questionable at best and that was one of the worst spots I’ve ever witnessed and directly impacted the game. Hooker has to be the guy moving forward he’s more accurate and more explosive running the ball, if Milton hits those deep balls it’s 21-0 and who knows how the rest of the game goes. With all that said we lost by 7 and had multiple opportunities to win. There are going to be growing pains with this staff and team, learn from it and move on.

I’m not the experienced coach. Other than the Pruitt syndrome, I am fascinated that fans think they know best when we have a head coach known for developing QB’s. There are designed plays that Bailey wouldn’t get.

I just hate the turning on a coach after game 2. Not necessarily you, but we have fans who have lost their minds.

This
The team plays hard
No depth as of now
Pass rush will fix the coverage issues, d coordinator did all he could with what he had
Mays and banks made dumb decisions that hurt and Mays clapped when we were inside the 10 and caused Wright to jump
Just all around dumb penalties
no reason they can’t win all but two of the remaining game and lose all the remaining games
Hell of a lot more fun watching this year then compared to past few

I would take Chip Kelly results 1000%.

Doubt we ever recruit that well (and the SEC will be tougher against this offense.)
If we get that sure, but I dont think we get that far. My main point, was some flashy cute offense that could put up some points against not great teams, but physical teams are gonna eat our lunch.

Could be. Now we're in agreement. Though I'm not sure we'll be favorites over UK tbh. Depends how the next few games go. I'm considering Pitt, mizzou, uk, etc as all within the ~50-50 range. Not as 24 pt favorites like you had us 😉
We would have won by 24 if Milton was accurate with the long ball. I thought he could but clearly he can’t. Once Heupel gets a QB that can we’ll be good.

Look at the positives. We fix penalties and avoid the turnovers and we win the game easily. There are a lot of teams in trouble against us in the future, if we fix penalties and turnovers.
There are no positives. HB is the best QB and this staff won’t play him. Major red flags.

No doubt.

Even the most positive posters here know it as well. If I could speak for them, they either think getting to 8-9 wins a year is a good goal for now, or they think Heupel will show something - an ability to recruit or a new offensive system - that will allow our ceiling to grow. And both of those things are totally possible.

I am fine to give Heupel time to build it the way he sees fit because I think we need stability badly. But he has to be able to recruit and rebuild this roster. That won’t happen tomorrow, of course, but the signs are clear that this is the weakest group of recruiters we’ve probably ever had.

Well don't have to be a coach to see that Milton doesn't have any touch pass 10 yards. I used Bailey as an example cause I have seen him play under difficult circumstances last season with terrible coaching and a dumb coach. I would rather have Hooker than Milton. The Tillman miss isn't rocket science.
