game is gonna be decided, imo, based on how we're able to handle their DT's. Kinlaw and Wonnum are a handful. Kennedy, Carvin/Johnson and Smith gonna hvae to get after it in the run game.

wonder if we'll see a lot more of A. Pope in the backfield as a lead blocker......i know we'll see it, but i think the only way we can run the ball the way we're gonna need to is to win the #'s game up front....and the RB's are gonna have to hit the holes.

we can make a living in this game getting 3-4 yards a carry, like 35 times............lol.

hoping for a fast start from the offense so we can settle in to that run game.....

and once agian, we need to absolutely win the TO battle....

I doubt there are many that doubt Shrout has a gun of an arm. They are concerned with his decision-making relating to throwing into tight coverage.

Shrout makes quick decisions. The receivers need to have their heads turned and hands ready quickly as the ball will be on the way. So I see Chaney giving him routes that take advantage of that along with the occasional more max protect deep routes over top or down the seams to force the D to have to cover the entire field. USCe plays a lot of cover 2. If done reasonably well, this will open running lanes and for some screens. He is less mobile than Maurer, so we will have to see how he handles the pocket and sliding or stepping up as needed. Do enough to score 24 points and we will win because I see our D being able to hold USCe to 20 or less. They are just OK on O, nothing explosive if our guys handle their assignments.

The fans rock Neyland. 27-17 Vols. The Jeremy Pruitt era leading us back to elite Vol football officially begins.

Really wish we had a mobile QB for this game. Afraid it might be a tough day for JT. WRs gotta win some combat throws, JT has to throw some catchable passes on 3rd down. I expect Muschamp to load the box on 1st and 2nd down. Then zone it up 3rd and long.

I think the key questions about Shrout are can he settle in quickly... and how will he handle adversity if he causes a TO? He has the least game experience of our QBs and the whole team knows this is a critical game. He's been the forgotten man and now he's next man up. How will he handle the pressure?

Tough spot with such an important game and all the pressure that comes with.

Struggled with turning it over but would lmao if the pressure had the opposite effect. No time to overthink leading to fast and instinctual, perfect ball placement.

For once the 3rd string QB headlines are written in orange.

We know he has a very quick release, start him off with screens and easy throws. Work him into a rhythm... THEN SUDDENLY BOOM! PLAY ACTION OVER THE TOP FOR 6!

Id let him see how far he could throw one on the first play.

If everybody does their job, Shrout should be fine. WRs know they need to help him out, and we'll lean on the run game. He'll have playmakers all around him, and Chaney will have some things worked up. Shrout's a good QB-- just hasn't had a chance to show it.
this is where i'm putting most of my hope for JT.

i don't think it's official but it's certainly looking that way.

Thanks. I was wondering if CJP had given anything away or if anyone had gotten wind of which way they were going to go.

Team with 200 yards on the ground wins this one, I just don't know if we'll hit that mark in the 1st or 2nd half...
