A trend I used to look for when I was a sports better, and went the opposite way (i.e. UT + 4.5). Had good success that way

Generally, yeah. I'd always look for larger margins - i.e. 75+% of going in one direction while the line either remained the same or went in the opposite direction. Was an indicator that the books were looking to make a killing vs joe public.

In the interest of full disclosure, I had the most success following this trend in college basketball. Then CFB. Worst luck was NFL. Betting NFL in general was never successful for me, but I was too stupid to not do it.

There's are great points made in your past couple of points. There's positive Expected Value(EV) betting against the public. The confirmation variable to look for is reverse line movement, namely the line going in one direction(USC Jr) and then the line goes back towards Tennessee.

It's also telling to lol at the offshore betting sites like Bovada, since those lines are square AF. You can often times get much better lines offshore than in Vegas or the legal US sites like FanDuel or Draft Kings. You've been able to get an extra .5 and even a full point for Tennessee. Saw a +185 ML there too.

Full disclose, I've been playing both the ML and points towards the Vols all week.
