And as the summer begins it's slow fade into fall, the orange clad masses descend from the hills... from the mountains... yes, even from Turkey Creek, and join in unison with the common voice focused on a single common goal. Complete and utter domination of anyone not counted amongst the blessed legion of Volunteers. Yes, it is time, and this 2024 season begins with possibly more hope than any other season since 2016. This team is not quite fully loaded, but pretty dang loaded and brings in what could be a generational quarterback who has nothing but upside from here. This should be a very fun year... and if the bounces go the right way... maybe even MORE than fun.

Keys to Victory:

1. Control the Line of Scrimmage: Tennessee should aim to dominate both the offensive and defensive lines. By establishing a strong push on the offensive line, they can open up running lanes for Sampson and protect Nico. On defense, pressuring Chattanooga's quarterback and disrupting their running game will be crucial. We have heard nothing but good things about the DL this offseason, so these should be simple enough with UT Chatt.

2. Exploit Matchups in the Passing Game: Tennessee’s receiving corps has the potential to create huge mismatches against UT Chattanooga’s secondary. Utilizing their speed and route-running abilities to exploit any gaps in coverage will be important as Heupel is unlikely to call anything interesting all game long. Nico's accuracy and quick decision-making will also play a role.

3. Wear 'em Down: Establishing a consistent run game will not only help control the clock but also open up play-action opportunities for the passing game. Tennessee should leverage their running backs to gain yards on the ground and wear down Chattanooga’s defense.

4. Sit Down Early: We never seem to do this, but I'll say it. Go ahead and score 42 or whatever you want by halftime, and then sit everyone. No need to even have starters take a snap in the second half. Just get a little blood flow going in the first half, and let's call it a day and keep everyone healthy.

Prediction: This game should pay for UT Chattanooga's entire AD budget this year and should provide the Vols with a proper warm-up without risk. The Vols score whatever they want as they break in some of the new talent.
