Would really like to see Nico stay in for like 1-2 drives through the 3rd qtr if he’s being protected extremely well. The chemistry with the receivers needs to improve drastically on the deep routes so that they ball out against Vandy and in the playoffs. They need as many live reps as they can get without hurting themselves. Every easy game outside of Chattanooga, the run game dominated so hard that the passing game didn’t get to make too many plays. So as long as Nico’s being protected it would be good to see him and the receivers get those game reps. But the score will probably be too crazy by halftime so it probably won’t happen. Hopefully they focus a lot on the pass game in the first half.

Really need to come out sharp and just absolutely obliterate UTEP to get our swagger back before the finale at Vanderbilt. Would be most unfortunate to be sloppy in this game and go into the Vandy game not feeling particularly confident.

Throw UTEP around like a rag doll and go into Vandy feeling good.

Gaston and navy are seniors though, so if we’re up big that’s why we need to give them repd

We arent giving our fourth string QB an entire quarter. Our first string OFFENSE needs more practice. If you can get Gaspipe & Merk in there, do it. Else, work on passing game.

They won’t get better with a couple quarters against a cream puff.
However one bad hit on Nico, Sampson or a number of others could wreck all playoff hopes

I hope that Merklinger does not decide to go to the transfer portal after this season and that he decides to stick around and battle McIntyre for QB2 position for the 2025 season.

He’s QB2 next season.

Mac will likely play in a couple of games and RS. Merk has the best chance to be the starter once Nico is gone. Heupel loves his guys knowing the playbook.

Merk also looked really smooth in the minimal time he’s gotten.

I know people hate these games. But, you know the kids get sick of playing night games week in and week out. That has to be hard to juggle.

Imagine spending all day mentally prepping, keeping your body ready to go play a football game at 745 pm? I mean hell, even in my twenties the body was starting to produce the sleepies at 7.

Nooners, with very little chance of losing.

Love it.

Seven SEC games in a row before this game. Each one a battle most of the game. They need to break that up more and shuffle in these type of games in between. I think it would have greatly helped the offense to work out some kinks midseason they could not do otherwise fighting just to win.
