I really don't want to be the devil's advocate, but why do you think they will play inspired football?

Instate rival, last game of the year, a definite bowl opp if we win, rebound and redemption from last week, end with a win for the seniors, players, and coaches? Last week the game/chemistry went sideways with JG going out, turnovers, and the feeling we couldn't come back... If we don't make stupid mistakes and have the same QB the entire game, we could pull this out.

I know logically it sounds good...but I don't feel it. Vandy has more to play for and it will win out.

I totally get where you're coming from... I would say I agree with you if Butch were still there, but I am trying to be optimistic with this staff and hope they don't allow our team to roll over like we used to do...

I wish I had your faith in this group but I don't.
Best way to decide which team of ours will show up Saturday is just roll the dice. They are consistently inconsistent. None of us have any idea which team will show up, and I am not sure that the coaches even know.

One team has buy in, one doesn't. I bet you know which is which.

Your negativity is disturbing Newt.

I try to keep my glass half full -- as long as I see progress. I was negative about Butch a lot earlier than most and caught some flack on VN about it. The didn't couldn't coach and it showed up early in his tenure.

This Pruitt team has been wildly inconsistent but they've shown signs of fight and the coaching staff has improved (albeit slowly) as the season progressed. I still have reason to think this staff will do well down the road but it's certainly not a slam dunk.

Have faith my friend. 27-17 Vols.

Thanks to Nick for the weekly post (again). You rock.

Fair question. My reply was to a post that suggested that TN players had given up on the remainder of the season based their uninspired play against Mizzou. The UT vs. Mizzou series does not contain the emotion of UT vs. Vandy. The Vandy game carries a greater measure of pride to win for at least two reasons:
1. State pride
2. Vengeance over recent losses to Vandy.

I forgot the tiny word "any" any worse then us. You knew what I meant you just can't resist opportunity to gig me. lol

Oh haha no I wasn’t trying. I thought those were two different thoughts lol. Couldn’t wrap my head around what you meant.

I'll be cheering for our Volunteers (as always), but as others have said, there is no predicting anything with our team this year. My gut tells me that we lose a close one . . . probably in a way that will infuriate us all because it'll come down to missing tackles, making a key mistake (in all likelihood a false start or a fumble at the worst possible time), or just not making a play when the opportunity presents itself.

The future looks good, I think, but this year is just a confusing and infuriating mess. If Pruitt somehow gets a win this weekend, he should be national coach of the year. Seriously.
