That's a stupid play to run so much.

Defenses will easily key in on it and do that exact same thing.

That play is only good in moderation. We run it much more than the split zone, so when the defense sees that TE cross the formation they can key on it.

With the naked bootleg action the QB usually has someone right in his face so he has to dump it to the TE. And the defense is keying that so they usually hit him low before he can react. That's really risking a knee injury to your TE for a 2 yd gain.
