I see your point but your talking about two different types of sales and salespeople.
The closer gets the deal done and is on to the next person. The bad part is the customer is not always happy later because he may have been emotional manipulated. This guy rarely gets repeat customers.
The better salesman builds a relationship. He doesn't emotional or mentally manipulate but builds trust. Its a softer close and the customer is usually happy with his decision.
IMO, a closer may get the kid on campus but 3 months later there is a good chance he might not be happy. Then you have a disgruntled 5* player who wants to transfer.
I think you're better off building trust and making sure a kid wants to be on your campus. That's why coaches are in the best position to recruit.
