Recruiting Rankings Matter

Top 10 is where we recruit. It’s really good. However, to truly compete for a championship you have to recruit top 5 if not top 3.

Your ratio of 4/5 stars has to be significantly higher than the 3 stars on your roster.
I think it’s the O Line and D Line recruiting that’s separating us from the rest.

DL/Edge has been good… it’s the fact we aren’t taking the next step up in recruiting… it’s going to take money and a lot of “signing guys who don’t fit the mold” gotta breakthrough that barrier that is top 5 for like 3-4 years straight.

Totally agree. I tried to argue all year against our 17th rank in the talent composite. I was wrong. Ohio State made us look like how Georgia or Alabama treat the South Carolinas and Missouris of the world.

If we're ever gonna win on a stage like this we need to recruit better. Huepel better get to it on the recruiting trail and the transfer portal. This type of gap in talent between us and the elites is unacceptable. Nico was the only guy who looked like he belonged on the field with the Ohio State players. And guess what he's one of the few elite five star talents on our team. We need a team filled with Nicos if we're gonna be competitive with teams like Ohio State going forward.

OSU pulled Downs and Judkins out of the portal. We have to spend for elite talent. Just the way the sport is now.

Need the NIL group to dial us up some difference maker wide receivers

Wide Receivers as well. Our Wide Receiving Core (outside of Thornton and Squirrel White who was hurt all year) couldn't do jack all year. Bru McCoy is a short down receiver but he also never gets downfield and hasn't caught a major one. Thornton and White tend to be the only ones that make big plays.

Bru just isn’t the same after the leg injury last year.

This. Our receivers got exposed. There's no way we can show up next year without a true #1 WR that can create mismatches.
If you look back without orange colored glasses, we have had wr separation issues with any team who could pressure Nico and had legit DBs. It’s an obvious weakness. Nico can’t just camp out back there. Impressed by Nico toughness.

Some of these is scheme. The routes are too long when the protection isn’t there.
