'25 Recruiting Rankings Tracker (11th/10th)

Oh, no. The Vols are doomed. Might as well save the money and disband the program.
Yep that’s clearly the case. Fire everyone and shut it down. Why some of you don’t want us recruiting at an elite level is baffling. Even when the data clearly shows the teams with the best blue chip ratio win the most. Especially you. I mean you completely ignore actual statistical data for some reason. Why? Who knows?

This is a tracker where we can go back and see historically where we are and where we've been for recruiting rankings, per the 247 Composite. I am also tracking On3 live rankings at the bottom. I update pretty regularly.

Updated after adding transfer Star Thomas!

It's obvious at this point that we are not heavily building through the portal this season. Our ranking supports that.

Updated after NSD. Onis Konanbanny decommitted (no surprise there). We finished signing day 11th on 247 and 10th on On3. Let's see if we add any more transfers or not. Onto 2026!

I genuinely believe on3 is the best in the business now with 247 not far behind…. Rivals has slipped significantly and ESPN has been a joke for a long time now

We finish about 7 or 8 in SEC? Not good.

In reality we're tied for 4th place. The 5 SEC teams behind Texas, Georgia, and Alabama are very close in terms of overall points. The way to look at recruiting is in tiers not the absolute rankings. Because two teams can be close in the rankings but the two classes could be far apart in terms of actual points.

Texas, Georgia, Ohio State, Alabama, and Oregon are on one tier. They're recruiting a step above everyone else. Then you have Michigan, LSU, Auburn, Texas A&M, Florida, Tennessee, Notre Dame, Penn State, and Miami that are on the next tier.

If we want to move from playoff contender to national championship contender then we have to find a way to start recruiting at the 1-5 range rather than the 10-15 range. Right now the only true national title contenders are Texas, Georgia, Ohio State, Alabama, and Oregon because they're the only teams consistently in the top 5.

Look at the per recruit average for 247 and On3. We are 7th in the SEC which is about where we usually end up. We aren’t tied for 4th lol.

But what's the difference between #3 and #4 versus #4 and #7? That's why I said you have to look at it in tiers cause there's typically a bigger gap between the top 3 and #4 than there is between 4 and 7. Here's how 247 ranked the SEC this past cycle: https://247sports.com/season/2025-football/compositeteamrankings/?Conference=SEC

Average Per Recruit

1. Texas - 93.63
2. Alabama- 93.42
3. Georgia- 93.03

4. LSU - 92.11
5. Texas A&M - 91.88
6. Auburn- 91.57
7. Tennessee- 91.32

There's a bigger gap between Georgia and LSU at #3 to #4 than there is between LSU and Tennessee at #4 and #7. This is why you have to look at recruiting as tiers rather than just looking at where you're slotted in the rankings. Right now we're in the second tier of SEC teams when it comes to recruiting. To get into that elite national championship contender tier we're gonna need to go from an average per recruit of 91 to 93. Getting slightly higher into the 92 range like LSU would still put us closer to the 7 spot than the 3 spot.
