It’s bonkers that we are 6th in the country in the recruiting rankings but 5th in the conference. Still though, we keep bringing in classes like this and we will be right there at the top
Depending on where you look we aren’t even in the top 10. Look at 247 per average recruit.

1. Oregon- 94.53
2. Bama- 94.16
3. OSU- 93.79
4. Clemson- 92.97
5. UGA- 92.87
6. LSU- 92.66
7. Auburn- 92.46
8. TX- 91.87
9- TAMU- 91.72
10. Michicheat- 91.68
11. TN- 91.58

Here is the per average recruit according to On3:

1. OSU- 92.28
2. Oregon- 91.93
3. Bama- 91.89
4. LSU- 91.79
5. FSU- 91.74
6. UGA- 91.61
7. Clemson- 91.37
8. TN- 90.71
9. TX- 90.71
10. Michicheat- 90.62

Looks like we aren’t going to sign a top 10 class this year even though this will be our best class since Fulmer days.

Hard to say, some of those school's classes aren't filled out yet and there's not enough top 250 guys left on the board to go around. So, some may drop out before it's all said and done.

Our current score of 280.82 would be:

7th in 2024
8th in 2023
6th in 2022
8th in 2021
7th in 2020
6th in 2019
I am talking about per average recruit. Now it’s possible some of our guys get bumped up. But it’s also possible some guys get bumped down. Also how many more recruits can we take? Some other teams haven’t come close to filling their class yet.

Also you are using points in August. Tons of time left until NSD. Hopefully we end up with a top 10 class. But some things will have to change in order for us to do so imo. Even if we don’t end up in the top 10 we will stil. Have a great class.

Well I guess it's a good thing rankings are listed based on avg per recruit. The reason is the difference between 1 and 10 is usually negligible. That's why they rank the classes in totality.

Let's look deeper. Bama has 4 LB committed the 2 highest both rated 94. Our 2 are rated Harmon 90 Gass 89 . I have watched tape of our 2 and Bama 2 and I wouldn't swap either. Not saying Bama 2 our not as good but that are 2 are woefully under rated so give both ours 94 and look how much higher our point average goes. We have an outstanding class of commitments. Don't care if we're 3 or 6 or8 class is legit. In CHRIST Alone

Exactly good point the programs that legit went after our commits say it all…House has no business being a 3 star when both Bama and GA were wanting him in their class.

House is rated 86 by film he is 90 4 star. Smith as well rated 87 but is 90 he is so athletic but raw with fundamentals. Both our DT 's have really good upside just need superior coaching which we have in spades . In CHRIST Alone

It's an intangible that cannot be charted, but in terms of real, on-field development, production, and teamwork, culture is a factor-multiplier.

These guys bring out the best in each other, every day. That's something coaches, who are only with the players for limited times, can never duplicate.

Of course, if other programs also have this strong a culture, then it's a competitive wash. But from what we hear recruits saying... I think we have something special here, and throughout the athletic department.

Solid signing class! I still think this staff is taking too many 3 star players that keeps us from getting into that top 5 "elite" level, which, I mean, come on guys! It's going on 4 years now, we're winning at a good clip, and we have one of the top NIL programs in the country! It's time to take that next step!

The thing to look at IMO is blue chip ratio, which is the number of consensus 4 and 5 star players you have on your roster at a given time. Since this has been tracked, no team has ever won a championship with a blue chip ratio below 70% and Michigan last year was the first team to do it with a 70% range . Every other team that's won a natty has had a BC ratio in the 80% range or higher. Right now I believe Tennessee's BC ratio is in the high 60's, so if we are to go by the stats, this staff still has work to do to get our roster talent at a level to seriously compete for championships. I'd say if this staff can't get our team talent ratio any higher, we are looking at being a perennial 9-3 or 10-2 program, which of course ain't a terrible place to be. It's just a question of how serious are we about competing for championships.

Our Transfer Portal finds have been pretty awesome the last couple years. Still room for improvement.

Last years transfer haul had a big impact. Go check the 2024 thread (link in OP)

Oh, no. The Vols are doomed. Might as well save the money and disband the program.
