Not sure if this is the right place to put this...maybe the recent recruiting news thread?

But a friend of mine told me that her Mother is friend's with "Kiffin's recruiting secretary" and is claiming that we are still pursuing Scroggins very hard, and pushing the early playing time (and I would presume also pointing out to him that Barkley is pretty entrenched as their man of the future).

Now I can't guarantee the accuracy (I know I always doubt the "Friend of a cousin of a neighbor of an ex-roommates girlfriends second cousins nephew" stories) and I guess it isn't MAJOR news even if true, but I thought I would run it out there anyway.

i would imagine we are still pursuing a lot of players who are committed but JS is not going anywhere.

For starting another thread containing JS you gonna get slammed

Yeah I figured it was coming, hence that last paragraph.

I have no idea how true it is, or how big a deal it is if true. I do know some people were scoffing at the idea that we were continuing to pursue Scroggins though..

Yeah I wasn't sure where to put it..I usually don't post much here (I'm not as knowledgeable as others), but I enjoy reading this forum a bunch. BUT I did know better than to put Scroggins' name in the title lol.

Your info is accurate. They have made it clear they are going to pursue Scroggins until the end. Rees and Rettig will probably continue to be recruited also...

I wanted to ask my friend if she knew anything else - I really wanted to ask about riley, cobbs, joyner, luc, stone, arie K, leifheit, ferguson, powell, lattimore, dyer, and bernard, but she said all she knows about is Scroggins.

Go figure. She's a Steelers fan though, so you can't expect too much :p

I know that they have backed off some on Rettig, Rees, and almost completely if not on Brunetti. They are still recruiting them, but not like they were before Bray committed. Scrogg I have no idea about, but it wouldn't surprise me in the least.

They need to completely give up on Brunetti as a QB.

The Brunetti ship has sailed. I still believe they would love Rees as the #2 in this class...

+1 You can bet they are still talking to several of the top QBs. They will sign 2 in this class if at all possible. The Bray camp knows this as well. It's no secret. Would love to steal Sims from Bama.

Be careful about outing your sources this staff looks down upon info leaking from the office and comes down pretty hard on those relating such info. Especially those leftover from the previous admin....

The info is accurate, but Scroggins has been waffling for awhile now. I just don't see them taking 2 highly rated QB's and Scroggins being one. He won't leave the West Coast. We will take another guy or two in the 2011 class.

Eric, you may have said, but what is your take on Bray? I know he's coming in January, but will he be ready as a freshman? Knock on him coming out of Elite 11 was he needs time. Rivals and Scout aside, do you consider him highly rated given the 2010 QB class is considered weak?

Bray will be fine. He will have 8 months to learn the offense and get some good bulk on him. Peyton, Casey, and Erik weren't all at good weight either when they came in as freshman, but all 3 played.

Good point. So many intangibles at the position, it's hard to say. I appreciate your work on here and just wanted to get your take. Thanks.

At the speed in which Ed Orgeron can write handwritten letters fueled on a six pack of Red Bull, I imagine Jesse Scroggins still gets 50 letters a day and it barely scratches the surface of Coach O's 25 hour day.

Listen guys, we are keeping in contact with most of the guys we recruited before Bray. As a general rule of recruiting, you always stay in contact with those players even if you get your guy committed. Once Bray enrolls here in January, which is when he is projected to be here, we probably won't recruit anyone else other than possibly Cameron Newton if we still have interest in him at that point. I have heard too many times that we are in good with too many QB's in 2011 to recruit this class really hard in the QBs since we have Bray now.

I haven't heard any names really thrown at me, just been told they are in good shape with several prospects. We will find out more after NSD for 2010 I'm sure.

That doesn't classify as a leak in my opinion. CLK has said repeatedly that they don't back off just because a recruit has committed elsewhere. She's not divulging any info that the public doesn't already know.
