Recruiting Territories

I agree. We better find someone that can help out in the Carolinas and in VA. Maybe Dooley has some pull in VA since he graduated from UVA? Maybe a guy like Wilcox or Baggett may find connections in the Carolinas. Chaney will take the midwest to go along with Nashville. My issue is that we have guys like Chaney, Baggett, and Heistand who all have ties to areas like Illinois, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Ohio, Missouri, etc. None of those are areas that we will be able to rely on. Maybe Chuck Smith can branch off into the Carolinas once he gets a feel for recruiting.

I am curious to know if Hinshaw has any experience recruiting Florida, and if so, how much? Florida is the most vital state to recruit.

Hinshaw grew up in SW Florida, played and coached at UCF so he knows the lay of the land for sure. He spent 5 years at MTSU and Middle's always had a fairly good presence in FL. I remember several guys I played against in HS going on to MTSU (I grew up in SW FL bout 45 min from Hinshaw's hometown) and it was more than likely around the time he would've been there. I have few doubts that HS coaches around the state know who Darin Hinshaw is!

They definitely need to have a strong presence in NC and Virginia. I really hope they have someone that can work that area successfully. Tons of talent and players are very open to going out of state for college.

Hubbs said he didn't want to guess who was going to be recruiting VA, NC, and SC because he don't know, but somebody will for sure. He said he thinks Baggett is going to have VA but he wasn't 100% sure.

Lance Thompson has Atlanta along with Chuck Smith

Being a former Falcon, Smith should know some people in the ATL.

YO... it's not like these are the only places that Tennessee will recruit players! For instance, if there is some blue chip all-star long snapper from Nova Scotia, it's not like he won't get recruited.

They will be in NC and SC. Just doesn't specify who. May hinge on prospect's position among other factors. I wish Thompson had Georgia and Bama exclusively. He is a monster down there. No quite right...Florida is somewhat important, but Georgia is our most vital state in recruiting. We will always get 1 or 2 out of Florida, but winning Georgia is our #1 priority and target.

chaney is gonna have heavy hands in the midwest, especially up here in illinois.... people LOVE him up here. Top end talent is down, but they are DEEP with lineman this year. Gonna have probably a dozen rivals 5.6 type guys or better I'd imagine.

Not comfortable with Rubio at all. Really not comfortable with him handling Knoxville. Too much talent here in 2011 for him to screw up.

Well Terry Joseph is the RC so certainly he'll recruit everywhere other than Louisiana, also Derek Dooley will be everywhere. I wonder where Harry Hiestand (OL coach) will be recruiting at. I didn't see him on that list. I also wonder where Justin Wilcox will be recruiting at.

Hopefully Ohio, Chicago and perhaps some North East regions.

Rubio isn't really handling Knoxville. That will likely be a full staff effort. As far as Rubio goes, he is a valuable asset to the staff. He got Gran and Kiffin "in" with a lot of schools in Florida. He could have that same effect with Hinshaw.

Really?? I ask this question in all seriousness. There will be maybe 1 or 2 HS kids from Knoxville that are good enough to play at UT?
