Recruiting too good??

The LAST thing on earth we need to be worried about right now is having too much talent. We are scary thin at MOST positions and I wouldn't say that we are "stacked" anywhere. This class needs a ton of talent on DL and OL and I have no doubt that we will get it...I just hope they are ready to play quickly.

Some of those ends could play linebacker. Receivers are big because i hate to not put any of the blame on our QB's but our receivers from the previous regime (Jones, Moore, Hancock) in particular suck. Ambles, Cobb, and Milton will be able to play immediately. With Teague starting and Nuke playing a gadget role, hopefully none of our upper classmen will see the field.

No, we are going to have the number 1 class.

Pair and Broussard may decommit and it will be handled with class.

If we got Dyer we just would not need Bernard or Payne at RB.

Funny thing with Damien Robinson's teammate thinking about us a bit, but we do not want to do the package deal with Dyer and Mosley and do not offer the package deal to Luc and his teammate. We are happy with Byrnes teammates, but not with some of the others.

This staff does their HW.

OL we get JaWuan James, Morgan Moses, John Cullen, James Stone, Damien Robinson, TJ Leifheit 3 guys and if 4 we lose M Pair.

There will not be as many late shocks this year, the CFB world will be shocked that UT gets a #1 class after just a 7-8 win season!

Don't get caught up in star ratings. If our staff didn't like pair, they wouldn't have offered him. Broussard is a low guy because he was hurt last year. In all the camps, Broussard has been the most dominant DT around. Montori Hughes was only a 2 star guy. Guess that workd out well.

Broussard I thought it was grades and/or LSU?

Pair, I think was given an offer before we thought James and Moses were even possible.

My first thought when reading this thread title was "Really?!! recruiting to good??" and I still feel that way after reading every post. You take as many of the best players you can get period.

And this philosophy by CPF and his former staff leaves us with a gaping whole at offensive line. If there is a special player, you take him regardless of position, but you still have to fill your needs.

I wasnt saying only recruit the top 150 without regard to need. Just saying if Dyer Seastrunk and lattimore all wanted to commit you take them all as long as you're still filling your need. And I take extreme exception to being compared to Fulmer and his staff in recruiting philosophy.

I think this might have been on another thread, but do you guys think that some of these recruits are being sold on the opportunity to play on either side of the ball? And if that's the case, anybody know who might get switched?

I think that we don't sign all our alloted Scholly's this year. I know everyone wants to see the number one class in the Nation but I really don't think that matters to this staff. They have there own star rating system and as long as they get who they want that is all that matters to them. That being said. The will fill the spots needed. I do think that they have there eyes on people next year, and plan on bringing in the number one QB in that class. I know we are all wanting a big name 2nd QB this year but they will hurt CLK's theory of Signing a great QB every year. He does not want to sign 2 in a year he wants a great one every year just like USC does. I have not seen him deviate from his plan so far and would not expect him too. My opinion is he will get his big time QB next year and the OL will come in droves with him. Put this way my opinion means absolutely nothing and In Lane I Trust. GO VOLS.

I know this sounds abit crazy.......but it almost seems like we're recruiting too good, if there's such a thing. I mean, do we just recruit like everyone, then what?? Do we let the lesser player decommit, or do we just pull scholy's??

What do we do?? We cannot possibly play everybody, and we're so stacked at RB, and DE (getting there), and even DT is getting stacked.......WR is getting rediculous, so what do we do?? If Bernard is a silent, then do we still try to get Dyer too?

If you have any enlightenment, please share......:hi:

Yeah...it's possible...

In other news...I have too much money and I'm too good looking :)

Just playin' man...IMO...you focus on team needs the most but outside of that you take the best players you can possibly get...

By taking the best players you create competition in practice which leads to a higher level of play on game day...

Imagine if you were a player and you knew you had to practice as hard as you possibly could every day in order to earn and keep your starting spot...

Compare that to the former coaching regime where a player not only didn't have to compete against a loaded roster but once he earned a spot he had it and could cruise in practice...

If a highly rated player gets beat out...give him a look at another position or tell him to work harder....

So...to answer your question...I don't believe it's possible to do too well in recruiting....the upside far outweighs what minimal downside there might be

Please, dear God, quit calling them "scholly's". And another one "presser". None of us are in the coaching or media business. Please stop.

Now, another thing: We are not going to pull scholarships. No coach wants a reputation for offering and then rescinding that offer. It's not cool and you'll never get another verbal. That's why we have verbals so when you reach the limit you tell the other guys that don't verbal to look elsewhere. You "hold" scholarships for those guys who are Brice Brown/Jansen Jacksonish. The rest better give you a verbal or they may or may not have one when it comes time to sign.

You should not use the term "verbal" unless you are in the business. Please edit your post to say "verbal commitment". Thanks. . Shut up Beavis.

We'll stop using "scholly" when you learn to correctly spell the names of our team members.

Deal?

There is no guarantee thay Bray will be 'the answer', I mean look at JC's high school ranking. And what happens if Bray is as good as advertised and he gets hurt? It seems to me that another QB would be a good idea. Not only that, considering that most high school teams put their best athlete at QB, if Bray is all we hope he is, we could put this other QB at another position.
