Recruits?

Considering the fact that GA has 2 insane freshman RB and still getting a 4* RB speaks volumes about the requirement of stability within a program. The dooley fired rumors either need to be killed or make it real and announce it publicly.

This ^

it always baffles me in this world of instant gratification football, how a kid would go to a school with two Frosh superstar RB's when he could go to a number of other schools and start right away....

Dude, I trust the people posting in Gruden cliff notes way more that I do you. I'll hold on to Chucky coming and you can have Doofus.

I never said you had to side with me on this issue. Frankly, I don't care either. Chucky boy will be going to coach at Philly eagles if he decides to go anywhere. He's an NFL coach NOT an SEC coach & does not want to be a head coach in the SEC. The job has too much stress along with the recruiting process & constant win win mentality in the SEC. Winning in the SEC is more stressful on a person's body & mentality than in the NFL. Hart needs to make a decision on the HC soon & he will find a replacement suitable for UT. But JMO, Gruden's not that person. :hi:

Source...link?

There's no source...or link. JMHO & gut feeling. See posting above for my thoughts. Hey, if Gruden is the hire we all want I'm "good & happy" with that for sure. I just don't think he is the answer to our problems at UT.

There isn't a win now mentality in the NFL? I don't think theres much difference in the stress level coaching an SEC school or an NFL team. I don't know if Gruden is the right guy or not but I think it would definitly make an immediate impact on recruting. I think we need a coach that is a better teacher and developer of talent. It will be very difficult to compete with Bama, Florida, Georgia and LSU in recruting every year so we need a great teacher to get the recruits we do get to reach their full potential. That was always the weak spot with Fulmer for me. We had some oustanding freshmen but it seemed they never really improved while at UT, some even regressed.

LMAO. I guess you don't follow Philly and the NFC East. Way more pressure in the NFL. Glad we don't agree, you don't seem to know what your talking about.

Let me try and help you a bit my friend.

In the NFL it's MUCH easier to build your team roster.

You pick the players you want from the draft

Then you pick the other players you want from the free agents that are available and within the price range you have to work with.

As the Head Coach you travel some to see the best players in college at their Pro days or bowl games and you review lost of tape.

NFL teams are allowed to have 30 college kids come to their team headquarters to interview and workout.

Then you have the NFL combine for more workouts and interviews and you have good scouts that have watched the best players in their sections of the country tell you their opinions.

College is MUCH tougher and rules to worry about.

The HC travels all over the country all the time talking to 15, 16 and 17 year old kids and we talk to some in their Sophmore year to start the bamboo watering process of getting to know the kids well and forming a relationship with them and it's nonstop constant begging young kids to come play football for you as a Head Coach that continues right up to National Signing day.

NFL coaches have lots more days off to do what they please but college coaches have many less days off because they're reviewing film of high school kids, calling then, making visists, setting up days for the kids to come visit UT and recruiting never stops and the bamboo watering goes on year round.

That doesn't include getting to know and building relationships with 100's of high school coaches around the country too.

Recruiting is the lifeblood of all college programs and just 1 really bad recruiting class puts a hole right in the middle of your team roster with fair to poor players that you're going to need to perform in their Junior and Senior years.

I'd rather be a NFL coach every time over a college coach because building the player roster is much easier and less time consuming than in college.

there are several uncommitted RB's that are just as good as Turman. When this stuff gets sorted out, we should have an above avg recruiting class. If Gruden does come, we will have excellent recruits

Good points. I still think either job is high stress. Thanks for the lesson though.
